“Avoid at all costs!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

After reading some positive reviews on this restaurant, 2 friends and I went to Grande Rubino for dinner and... This was probably the worst dinner I ever had in my life! First of all, the waiters could not speak English or Italian, only Chinese, so it was quite hard to clear some doubts we had over the menu (not even considering the spelling mistakes, such as "aberitivo" instead of "apertivo" and "sprat" rather than "sprite"). No one could explain what "vino da tavola" was or where did it come from, so we thought it would be safer to just have some sparkling water. We ordered as starters a Thai combo and some vietnamese rolls. Needless to say, both were so greasy we couldn't eat half. As for the main dishes, I ordered some kind of meat with curry and pineapples that, again, was so greasy that just by looking at it you felt sick. My friends ordered something else which honestly we cannot still figure out what it was! We left the restaurant feeling sick and could not eat a thing on the following day. Ok, we made a big mistake thinking that someone could cook Thai and Chinese at the same place, but this was seriously the worst dinner ever. For some unknown reason they gave us a 10% discount, probably because they realised we just couldn't eat a thing. Never EVER again!

“Great Chinese Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2011

One of the best Chinese/Thai restaurants I have been to anywhere. When you get tired of the Italian pasta, try some good Thai. They did not have Pad Thai listed on the menu, but they did make it when we asked.

Favorite chinese restaurant in Rome. Excellent food (my favorite is their grilled duck), good service (everybody's always sinecerely smiling), not too greasy (but anyway wear something that needs a wash rather than your new trendy clothes), and absolutely cheap (25 Euros for 2 people, sharing a litre of their house wine). Me and my girlfriend have been lovin it since ages and it's definitly my local pick for chinese.
Foreigners have to be careful since as all the Italian chinase restaurants, the Riso Cantonese (translated as fried rice) has NOTHING to do with the standard fried rice you are used to (this is a boiled white rice with ham and peas)
