“Disappointing. No personal touch”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2014

Booked a table for two with full name. On entering received a hurried "How many?" . Informed them that I had made a reservation in name of... But no reserved table .Another waiter came up and again same repetition "How many?" . After being seated , three different un smiling waiters took orders as if they couldn't be asked the favour, whilst chatting with other members of staff in an un- caring manner. The food averagely good, but the dolce Zuppa inglese was awful, at least 4 days old, very hard and very cold from fridge which should have been put in the rubbish bin three days earlier.
Owners never once appeared in main dining area and never even looked or bade farewell to
customers on leaving, after paying expensive bill. Have no desire to return and would not reccomend.

“Service good....food so so and pricey”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

We did our homework and this restaurant was mentioned several places, including Rick Steve's. It was quite expensive ....and the food was just OK. The service was excellent! The manager was wonderful! Portion size was good.

“Nice place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013

We've had a dinner there, targeting meet a la Fiorentina. Even though I was aware that they did not have a proper Bistecca ala Fiorentina, I still kind of expected better quality T-Bone. The wine and the rest was up to expectations, but nothing spectacular.

“Wonderful meal in Ancient Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2013

I had a GREAT meal with a friend of mine here. our reservation was honored without a wait. the service and food was sublime. I had proscutto with melon, pasta carbonara, bucatini all 'amatriciana, veal loin with butter and sage, and steak tartare.

all were light, fresh flavorful and amazing. they prepared the steak tartare at the table in front of us.

i'll be back.

“Disappointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2013

For all of the build up, the our dinner at Da Fortunato ranks as one of the most disappointing meals we have had on our many trips to Roma. Yes, we sat outside and enjoyed the fantastic view of the Pantheon. Yes, the food was nicely prepared. The bottle of Anglianico from Basilicata was excellent and fairly priced at 26 euros. But the lamb and veal entrees were just not memory invoking (indeed, the veal arrived overcooked). The caricofi a la Romana, while flavorful, did not justify their 10 euro price. The dolci were not horrible but were rather pedestrian. We have eaten far better meals at substantially less than the 120 euros cost of this meal.
