“Excellent taverna near Campo dei Fiori”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 5, 2012

We ate a delicious meal with good wine that was very reasonable. we liked the Cantina Lucifero better as the food was a bit more unusual. But would also go back here to eat when in Rome.

“The quintessential straccetti - none better in Rome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2012

Straccetti is one of many reasons to come to Rome...very thin slices of beef filet (when it is done right) in an amazing brown sauce, topped with arugula and parmesan...why eat anything else? And the straccetti at Lucifero is as good as it gets. A mound of succulent shaved beef filet buried beneath a layer of fresh arugula and showered with shaved parmigiano reggiano. There are many places in Rome to get straccetti (and we have tried many of them), some of which are quite good (and perhaps even as good as Lucifero); but none, in our experience, better than this. And if you precede this with one of Lucifero's exceptional pastas (they are not listed on the menu, they will be lovingly described by the owner), top the meal off with a panna cotta al caramelo or al cioccolato and follow that with an amaro del capo (a delightful digestivo from Calabria) your meal will be memorable and your dreams sweet.

“On balance, OK”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2012

We visited Lucifero on 11 November and found the food quite good though somewhat heavy on the cheese.

What did not impress us was having another couple placed on the immediate adjacent table even though the restaurant was otherwise totally empty for the duration of the meal. The other two (Italian) diners were embarrassed too,

“A must visit place...”

A typical restaurant, with a large wine selection and typical Italian food.
The food is made with fresh ingredients and very tasty.
Take in account the recommendations made by the owner.

“Superb!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 22, 2012

We were in Rome for 6 days and had dinner here 2 nights. First time we went we were with friends who live in Rome and wanted us to try it out. We loved it so we decided to go there for our last dinner in Rome. Great athomosphere in a small casual restaurant. The man that runs it is so nice and friendly! Helped us both times with great menu choices. I think that the last night we were there we were the only ones speaking English. We found the food to be quite well price and we never felt rushed to order or to leave the restaurant. overall fabulous restaurant.
