We had a great time staying at this relatively new hotel located near Trevi Fountain & the Spanish Steps. The rooms were spacious and modern, and very secure (four locked doors separate you from the streets of Rome). The best part was the included breakfast, which is brought to your room. We loved having breakfast on our very own patio that was attached to the room. I did want to share a few important points that will make your check-in experience go a little more smoothly than ours did. Firstly, the hotel is located on a sort of not-so-nice street – there are a couple of strip clubs (Chica-Chica-Boom) and a sex shop. Yuck. The pictures on the hotel website were so nice, I totally did not expect it to be located on a street like this. Secondly, there is no sign marking the hotel’s location. Once you find the address, look for “Alex Inn” listed on the call box next to a dozen other businesses, and press the button (may have to wait a bit for the receptionist to answer). Once they buzz you in, you have to enter another door, and be sure to take the elevator up to the top floor (walking up 6 flights of stairs with all our luggage after a 12 hour train ride was not very fun). Once you get out of the elevator, walk up one more flight of stairs to the top and the main door of the hotel will be there. You can check out the attached pictures showing the street & the call box. Another thing to note is that not all the staff members speak English, but we got by fine with my very limited Italian and hand signals. Overall, it was a very nice stay and pretty good value at ~130 euros a night. I wholeheartedly recommend it, especially if you are forewarned about the above idiosyncracies of the hotel’s location.

Just come back from Alex Inn and would like to assure anyone who is thinking of staying here that they won't regret it. Located just off Via Veneto it is only 5 mins walk from the Spanish Steps and even less to Barberini metro station! The surrounding area is upmarket with 5* hotels and the US embassy all close by and the Villa Borghese park is a few minutes walk away. The room was very clean with a modern bathroom and plasma tv and a private terrace with table and chairs you could use to eat breakfast at!! The room also had a mini bar, hairdryer, Air Con and a free safe and the continental breakfast was a nice start to the morning. The staff were all very nice although the lady who worked the morning shift could not speak English, however the lady in the afternoon spoke excellent English and was very helpful. We arrived around 12 noon and were able to check in no problem despite the website saying check in was at 2pm. We booked directly with Alex Inn via their website and found it much cheaper which was a welcome saving as Rome proved to be quite expensive! Will definately use this place again and we recommend the Alex Inn as a 9 out of 10 hotel.

I loved staying here in Rome. It was close to Via Veneto and Villa Borghese as well as the Metro. The service was fantastic and the room was gorgeous. It was a true home away from home.

The Alex Inn was absolutely fantastic. I stayed with my partner for New years at this hotel. It was clean, breakfast each morning (brought to your room) was amazing! Air conditioning and heating, marble floor and bathroom and cable television.

For the price it was exceptional. 7 nights for 795 EURO! The lady who brings breakfast doesnt speak alot of english but we managed to figure it out. The girl at the front desk (mexican i think she was) is FANTASTIC. She helped with where the nightlife, restaurants, tricks of rome.

Would i stay there again? Absolutely. I have booked my parents in.

The Alex Inn is a lovely small boutique style hotel near the Trevi Fountain. My husband and I stayed there for 4 nights while in Rome in May. Our room was small but nicely furnished and very clean. We had a cozy patio area where we were served a very nice breakfast each morning. The staff was very friendly though it should be noted that there was not always a staff member on site who spoke English. This was not a problem for us as I speak some Italian but it could be a challenge for someone who does not. The hotel is very conveniently located about 3-4 blocks from the Barbarini subway stop. However to get to the hotel from the subway you do have to ascend a rather long flight of stairs to reach the street on which the hotel is located. This could be a bit of a problem for someone with a lot of luggage or someone with physical limitations.

  • Liked — I loved the location and boutique hotel feel
  • Disliked — The long flight of stairs to get to the street on which the hotel was located

The Alex Inn is located close to Via Veneto, the Spanish Steps and the Trevi Fountain. It is small and intimate and our room was really nicely laid out and care had obviously been taken in the decor and furnishing. It is clearly a place not really set up for families, more for couples seeking a romantic break, or young people out to enjoy the sites and sounds of the city. The locaton and the rooms themselves made this the ideal spot for our break as you really are in the centre of everything here and all there is to see and enjoy seemed to be in wllking distance which saves money on Taxis and the like. Would definetely recomend it and the only thing the could be improved would be the breakfast which often in Italy seems to be less substatial than what one would get back home.

  • Liked — Great Location
  • Disliked — Breakfast could be improved
