Anyone looking for an amazing apartment in the centre of Rome need look no further. Yes, it is a little more expensive than many you will find on the Net but for good reason. All of the apartments are immaculate and have everything you could possibly need for a fantastic stay in Rome. Carla, the owner, is amazing and having an office in the building means no concerns that things might not be as they seem ( some people do have a knack of making sub-standard things look good in photos).

These apartments cater for everyone as the lift means that even the top floors are accessible to everyone. The space and quality of furniture and fittings cannot be faulted - you will not fail to be impressed.

Local information about where to find supermarkets, good restaurants etc is happily given, really nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. The leisurely morning walk across the road to Campo Fiore to shop for fresh produce is just so much fun - really practise your Italian here as everyone is so friendly and helpful. Bring it all back to whip up a delicious meal in the well-appointed kitchen, then sit by the window and literally embrace Rome.

The location is amazing - a flat 2 min walk to Piazza Navona another few minutes to The Pantheon, a few steps to a bus stop yet all from the peace of your apartment as the street is narrow and therefore pretty quiet. And the fans and A/C mean you can close the windows if you want to!

I love this place so much I have booked them for my guests to attend my daughter's wedding, most of whom have never before been to Rome - we are all going to have such a great time!
You can too - contact Carla now - you will not be disappointed!

Perfectly located in the geographic center of Rome on a narrow, pedestrian-oriented street, Palazzo Olivia is a pleasant, 5-minute walk from the Pantheon, the Campo di Fiori, and the Tiber river--and a 15-minute walk from the Vatican, Trevi Fontain, Trastevere, the Forum, and many other sites.

The advantages of staying in the center of Rome cannot be overstated, as traffic is terrible, competition for taxis can be fierce, the bus system is essentially incomprehensible, and the subway's routes and stops aren't very useful to tourists.

Palazzo Olivia is rather more expensive than many Roman apartment rentals you'll find online, and for good reason: The building is owner-occupied and has been lovingly renovated; the entrance, hallways, elevator, and rooms are immaculate; there's a friendly, English-speaking staff member on-hand during business hours; and you can have confidence in the quality and certainty of your accommodations (unreliable, fly-by-night renters of flea-bag apartments abound in Rome, and they excel at making dumps look fabulous on the Web).

My one-bedroom apartment at Palazzo Olivia was relatively spacious; had nice big windows with heavy, wooden shutters (handy for blocking out late night street noise from garbage trucks and revelers); a full kitchen stocked with dishes, utensils, and a stove-top espresso maker; and a clean, modern bathroom equipped with a washer and dryer.

Although the surrounding Piazza Navona and Campo di Fiori districts are--like the rest of Rome--overrun with tourists, the area also has some personality, realness, and hipster amenities (think East Village lite by the Tiber). Within 5 minute’s walk of Palazzo Olivia, you'll find interesting, independent shops; a sprinkling of contemporary art galleries; trendy bars, nightclubs, and restaurants; and a real supermarket.

Some of my most enjoyable Roman meals took place in the dining area of my apartment at Palazzo Olivia. The ingredients available from the street vendors at the nearby Campo di Fiori are fantastic (especially the small, purple tomatoes!), and there's nothing like the simple, everyday act of food-shopping and cooking to make one feel like a resident rather than a tourist.

We thrashed around for ages trying to find a reliable, good-value and efficient apartment service in Rome for our week-long holiday at the end of October. From the very outset Palazzo Olivia delivered - and more.

Rome is always full of tourists and the internet is stuffed full of companies offering a range of services, but if you need to pay a hefty deposit and you don't know what you're walking into, you need to be sure. With Palazzo Olivia you can be.

The best thing about the apartments is their location, just about as close to the historical centre of Rome as you could want: 3 minutes from Piazza Navona, the same from Campo dei Fiori, and everything meaningful (Vatican, Colosseum etc) within 15 minutes. So as a base to explore Rome, it's probably second to none. The only thing it's not good for is the train to/from Termi station, but good value and reliable airport transfers are available.

The second good thing is the quietness of the apartments, especially given their location. We had the 'Figaro' (4th floor) with bedrooms away from the main road, and apart from the occasional ambulance we heard nothing - so a good sleep every night.

The pre-, during and post- rental service provided by Carla was exceptional, and you feel from the beginning that you are in safe hands. I wasn't keen to pay any hefty deposit beforehand (50% in our case), but PayPal worked smoothly and securely. There's a booklet in each apartment with details about nearby shops and facilities, as well as a selection of walking routes.

The apartments themselves are comfortable, if not overly spacious. As usual, it's best to check how many beds there actually are! But the excellent website, [--], has layouts of each apartment, so everything is clear from the outset. Each apartment has a direct-dial phone and a satellite TV, although the latter has little of interest to non-Italians. Ours had ceiling fans and air conditioners throughout - and a fierce central heating system for the cooler months.

The entrance to the apartments is discreet, the hall always cool, and a lift will take you straight to your floor.

The fact that there is an office in the building, manned for a few hours each day, means it is really easy to ask questions or to sort out problems. No absent, untraceable landlords, or a company handling thousands of enquiries each day...

Almost nothing to fault this establishment. It wasn't the cheapest we looked at, but it was unquestionably cheaper than two rooms in a comparable hotel in the same area - plus a lounge and kitchenette.
