Arrived with ease from Termini (25EUR cab ride.If we'd known how to use the metro then EUR 1 !) and were greeted by the friendly owner Michelle. Excellent check in, knowledge of the city and service with a genuine smile. Room was of a very high standard and decor (important for the romantic break) with all facilities required inc TV and safe which is rare for this price bracket. 24hr food and drink facilities (self service) means that you can choose from hot/cold beverages, pastries, fruit and breads at a time that suits you, layed out in a fresh, hygenic manner. Staff leave you at night and return in the morning so it feels as if you have your own apartment, even with the other rooms occupied ( you're unlikely to cross paths).
With regards to location it is perfect for Ancient Rome ( Vatican, Bridges of interest ) and you can walk to most places within about 25 mins. Being on a main street means you have a metro stop 5 mins away( EUR1 to any stop), but the plus of this location is the quietness at night due to the Vatican area being less hip for the young to hang out. We found three excellent Tavernas in two days and tried a variety of moderately priced foods. Also there is a taxi rank 1 minutes walk, and many branded designer shops within 3 minute walk.
I have been fortunate to travel worldwide with work and stay in many 5 star hotels. I felt genuinely more comfortable and welcome here than at any other place and would rate this experience 10 out of 10. If they have room to book do not strive to look any further. Michelle will guide you from booking a room through to arranging museum / restaurant entry free of charge and is an ambassador for Italian tourism. Thanks for making the trip worthwhile. Thought about starting a franchise?

I stayed here with my extended family of 4. I don't remember the name of our actual suite, but our suite had 2 bedrooms with a double in each room. This place was very spacious, and the room fitted our family perfectly. When I arrived, I asked to see if I can have one more bed so my cousin and I can have a single bed each to sleep on. The hotel staff was very helpful in this and explored all possible options. They ended us giving us an extra bed from another room which wasn't using it.

Breakfast was great, they had food and snacks out in the kitchen area all day long. They also had free WiFi access which was great!

The location is fantastic! It's about a minute walk from the station, and 5 minutes walk from the Vatican.

There are also a some nice restaurant, coffee bars, gelato and shops around.

I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here next time!

Being in Rome couple of times and always have stayed at Termini area, get tired of the train area and was looking through the Tripadvisor finding the Ancient Romance reviews. Booked the room, with mixed feeling - had to book triple as double being off sale at the time. The results - absolutely fantastic stay in Rome, home like feeling all the time!!! Thank you to the fellow reviewers and to the B&B staff.

We stayed at "La Dolce Vita" Room - as described - design is classic, with the Fellini's posters and pictures on the walls plus black and white design. The room looks at the small street facing East - so the sunrises are all yours. The room is big with king size bed and spacious bathroom (one hint - for some reason there were no shower gel, so took yours with). Extremely clean and well looked after during our stay.

The B&B is on the fifth floor of the Maison right on the Vatican corner, great location, no need to add anything here. Metro is stone throw away and other public transport available around. There is a lift (a bit funny - with some tendency to be out of use due to never correctly closed doors) right to the B&B door. You have a key to the building door entrance so no issues with curfew time.

Breakfast is lovely with no time fixed and eating is at your own room, which is also for me a great plus - very cosy home like feeling looking through the window. Minibar is full and you may agree to use it for your own needs for little extra.

The people running Ancient Romance B&B are very very friendly and helpful.

Communication is simply perfect as I have asked a few questions before our arrival and got perfect clear answers with facts needed. During the stay you may use WiFi net in the room as well as the computer on the net in the small lobby - great fun to type the 25 digit password to WiFi though. Yet the main gem is the support and hints you get from the stuff - Massimo, Michele and Marcello - any and meant any sort of issues are taken seriously, professional and with full understanding. The advices given for lunch options around are more valuable than 10 of the travel guides we had!!! Hearty thanks.

The taxi ordered by the stuff for special guests tariff (45 euro to Fumicino Roma Airport which is ca 20 euro saving vs official taxis) was in time at early morning and with great Italian driver, who showed us some of the Roman stile driving as well on the way - fun!

Overall - I would not only recommend it to the friend or anyone - I am fixed on the place and in case next time in Rome will stay in this B&B again!! Best deal.

We stayed here for a couple nights. We had requested a triple room when we made the reservations online and were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. They put us in a spacious "apartment" with two bedrooms, a dining area, kitchen, and full bathroom. All of this for an extremely reasonable rate. Typical Italian breakfast foods and beverages (cakes, cookies, jam, yogurt, coffee, tea, juice, etc.) were plentifully available in a common area. The location was excellent, as we were very close to the Vatican and also to the Ottaviano metro stop. Safety, even while walking on the streets late at night, did not seem to be an issue in this neighborhood. Michele and his staff were very helpful. They assisted us with our sightseeing planning, gave us good restaurant recommendations, and even made dinner reservations for us one night. One thing to note: the rooms for Ancient Romance are on the fifth and sixth floors of a large building; however, there is an elevator that comes in very handy. There is also a great little gelateria next to the main entrance to the building that is perfect for a late night snack!

My wife and I have stayed 4 nights at this B&B and really enjoyed it.
Very kind staff, pleasant room, extremely clean, great location just a stone's throw away from St Peter's, metro at the corner, bus connections to central Rome, nice restaurants and gelaterias in the vicinity.
The 24 hour buffet breakfast is quite convenient, though some cakes tend to stay there a bit too long.
Excellent WIFI available in the rooms free of charge.
Only downside to our room (Divina Commedia) was the air conditioner, which is not the usual engine outside type, but an interior one placed in front of the window, very loud when you need it most at night, so you have to make a choice between sleeping cool but noisy or sleeping calm but quite hot....
Nevertheless I would heartily recommend this place...
