Great Location just 50m Vatican wall, all rooms are on the 5th floor, but there is a lift and stairs. Our party stayed in two of the three rooms which the Ancient Romance had to offer. They have a safe, a hair dryer and were stylishly decorated.
The minibar was stocked with reasonably priced drinks (70cl bottle of white or red wine 6 Euros) Breakfast is a continental buffet style which you eat in your room. Michele, the owner is very helpful giving us a map and marking on it places of interest and eateries etc.
The tube is just a couple of minutes walk down the road, it will get you most places in Rome and the buses stop just over the road. Booked through Venere, it's the second time booking through them and a good service both times.
Overall it felt like a home from home yet just on the Vaticans doorstep.
On our next visit to rome we will stay in Michele's place.

My girlfriend and I stayed in the Fellini room at Ancient Romance for 2 nights in Rome. It is classy and delightful with a fantastic view of Rome from our window. The location is perfect for exploring the Vatican. The owner Michele is very helpful and trustworthy. My girlfriend and I both enjoyed our stay.

Just back from a long weekend Rome. We enjoyed every minute of the trip and this fantastic B&B added to the pleasure of staying in Rome. It's a well situated (just minutes from the Vatican and from the Metro), tastefully decorated, spotlessly clean and comfortable B&B providing very pleasant and good service.

This is an excellent place to stay for people who want to explore rome. It is few minutes from the vatican museums and St. Peters.
Me and my husband walked everywhere from Ancient Romance to the colosseum, pantheon, spanish steps etc. If you dont like to walk ur just minutes away from the Ottaviano train station.
Best of all was the service provided by the owner Michele,he was very helpful. And it felt like home. We had our own set of keys so we could come and go as we please. They have a coffee machine and a table laid out with breads, biscuits so u can help urself at any time of the day or night.
The rooms are in excellent condition. I would definately be staying here again on my second trip to Rome.

Arrived in Rome by train from airport. Got fleeced by un-metered taxi (paid 35 Euro, should be approx 12 Euro) from train Terminii to B&B. So make sure you always use metered taxi in Rome. Also use Metro (underground) located a couple of blocks away and get a 24 hour ticket, its cheap.

Rooms are on 5th floor but great old style lift got us to our floor. Michael (the young owner) welcomed us and showed us our rooms. Michael was fantastic and as this is his small business he should do well.

Room was lovely, and air-conditioned, which is a must in Rome in the summer. Great variety in the self serve continental breakfast which you eat in your room. Free internet access.

300 metres (yards) to front door of St Peters, same to Vatican Museum (which includes Sistine Chapel). Really good and very reasonable restaurant around the corner toward Vatican Museum. Supermarkets and laundromat within a few hundred metres (next city block).

If visting St Peters or Vatican Museum, go as early as possible as long queues otherwise. Don't forget Vatican tombs underneath St Peters and a walk up to the Cupolla (or Dome) of St Peters. (over 500 steps or lift for 200 steps and 300 walk - but if you take it easy, not a problem). The view from the dome if unblievable.
