I love the Hotel Re di Roma. My wife and I had a horrible experience getting to the hotel from the airport. The airport shuttle driver left us in the wrong part of town and we had to take a bus and the metro with 4 pieces of luggage to get to the hotel. We arrived sweaty and exhausted and we looked like hell. Giorgio, the front desk manager, told us to sit down and gave us bottles of water. He helped us contact Expedia to complain about the shuttle and did everything to make sure that our stay went well. Eugenio and Lara are the owners and they are also great people.
The hotel rooms are newly renovated, clean and large. The furniture was perfect for the room and we had a balcony which was perfect. Breakfast was included and was very good. I could go on forever about how good the hotel was but why bore you. Suffice to say that everything considered it is the best hotel that I have stayed at in Europe. Again, the staff are great. For my money, it is the only place to stay in Rome!!

This hotel is 4 metro stops from the train station outside of Rome. The metro stop is on the corner of Via Vercelli, the street that Re di Roma is on.

The hotel is very clean and very contemporary with low, *very* firm beds, a small flat panel TV, and a mini bar. The bathroom is small (made smaller by the addition of a bidet) and the shower has no curtain, so expect the floor to get wet when you shower. The included breakfast is basic with fresh fruits, cereals, yogurts, juice, and a machine that dispenses hot coffees (cappuccino, espresso, etc.).

The staff is wonderful. Just ask and they will make sure it happens. One day it rained, and they had free ponchos at the front desk. We asked for tea in the evenings, and received a nice tea service with cookies at no charge! They were very friendly and spoke English with ease.

All in all this was a very nice hotel. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.

To give you some perspective....Let me first start by saying I don't stay at the Ritz when I travel, however I'm not a motel 8 or holiday inn type either.. think more Hilton/Marriott type.

My family and I (total of 5) stayed here for two nights. Rate was around $215 US. Hint- If you're traveling with more than 4 people (or in my case- women with lots of luggage) - get a private minivan at the airport. It's well worth it. Had us there in no time and I think it was 70Euro (less than two cab fares).

The rooms were nice. We had an corner room on the top floor (i think the 5th) and it had a very large terrace w/ table and chairs. The bed was a little hard, but not terrible. The bathrooms (the most critical for us) were very nice. The staff here is awesome. The receptionists (all of them) were very helpful and had great recommendations for restaurants although I can't remember the names. Breakfast was great... the espresso machine was awesome especially if you like more than on latte in the am. The only negative is the location is a not the best. I consider myself a walker, but it's a bit of a walk to the main sights. Good news is the subway is literally at the end of the block. Best 1Euro I spent in Italy. Overall, great hotel for the money.

The hotel is very comfortable, clean, well tended, good breakfast, helpful staff, comfortable beds, in a quiet neighborhood and right off the metro.
