The average rooms ( read cheapest) are exactly as described by other unsatisfied customers. But if you're ready to pay an addictional extra for one of the suites, like we did, you'll find yourself in a five star hotel, right in the middel of Rome for the price of a three star hotel five km from it. The location is unbeatable! and after a long day walking around this precious city, when you are lying in the jacuzzi and enjoying this splendid room you'll forget the abscence ot the room service or restaurant ( which by the way we enjoyed: you just have to ask nicely to the diligent girls of the reception and they will have your breakfast served in bed by one of the restaurants next door). My compliments to the girls of the reception and to Francesco: with so few resources they made of our time in Rome one unforgettable holiday.

Our room was APPALLING: There was no window in the room, which was under the eaves. A skylight in the lobby was covered by a blind that fell on my head - metal casing and all - and was dangerous. The bed was tucked under the eaves, giving very limited headroom and I bumped my head many times. The power-point for the television was broken and there was no remote control (the janitor did fix these two items). The sole provision for hanging/storing clothes was a rail above the mini-bar (more later), which was too short and fell down whenever you tried to hang things from it. The mini bar itself was broken and its wiring was in a dangerous condition - a complaint that the staff met with a shrug. This meant that there was nowhere to keep things cool. There was no provision for tea or coffee-making facilities in the room. The bathroom had an unprotected power point with a cover missing – in a wet-room environment. DANGEROUS. The shower head was too low to get underneath. The bathroom lights were, er, eccentrically wired in that there were THREE switches in serial which had ALL to be on for the lights to work. The room was also noisy; you could hear everything happening in the corridor at all hours of the day and night. We run a small B&B in the UK – where we charge less than half what Piazza Venezia charge, and offer AT LEAST twice the facility. We do know how it should be. This hotel should have its three stars removed – preferably with an axe.

On the plus side, it was always clean and cleaned; the bed was comfortable and the bed, bed-head and lights were of a good quality. Towels were changed daily (they had to be as there was no ventilation in the bathroom). The positioning was PERFECT – right in the middle of the City; we could and did walk everywhere.

I had a love hate relationship with this place. There was no air con in our room, which was unbearable. Also on the first night my husband and I both showered and found out that the bathrooms completely flood. Even to the point of water stretching right across the room. We spent a good deal of time soaking up water with towels. They gave us a fan for the first night and then moved us the night after so we had air con for the rest of the stay. However this is not controlled per room, so if its too cold you have to lump it. Again in the next room the bathroom flooded. Anyway doen with all the negatives, the location was awesome, right by one of the most beautiful monuments Palazzo Venezia and right by the roman forum. The location of this hotel could not be beaten at such a low price. If you can put up with a few negatives this hotel can make Rome even more accessible. I enjoyed my stay very much!

...you opt for the superior deluxe rooms. The standard rooms are absolute rubbish. We paid an extra 30 Euro per night to upgrade and it was well worth it.

The location is unbeatable, most of the main attractions are within 10 mins walk, the Vatican City and Train Station are about 10 mins by bus which stops right outside the hotel.
