Stayed here for one night in June 2009. Location is excellent - across from San Giovanni church and a ten minute walk to the Collosseum and historic Rome. Very close to the Metro. Paid 64 Euros including breakfast.
We were recieved by Cristiano when we arrived at the location, but I would suggest contacting him first to get directions. When you are in front of San Giovanni, facing away from the church, you will see a Pasta restaurant on the opposite corner beside a Gelateria, the B&B is down that street on the left side. Neat old elevator in the building to bring you up.
The best thing about staying here was that it was like having our own apartment in Rome for us to come and go as we pleased. The rooms are decent, ours had a big bed (two twins pushed together) and was fairly comfortable. No air conditioning but we slept with the window open and the street noise was minimal. Cristiano provides you with a map and there are a number of magazines and guidebooks available to borrow. Small TV that seemed standard for most places in Europe with about 6 channels, all in Italian (who is watching TV in Rome anyways?). Our bathroom was private and down the hall, basic amenities but got the job done.
Breakfast was very good and provided as a self service the morning we were there. We were told by the other couple staying there that he is usually around in the morning but in our case he wasn't. He arrived before we got up and had everything set out for us. Juice, coffee, croissants, pastries, toast, ham, cheese, etc.
For 64 Euros it is great value in a great location. There is a Coin store just around the corner by the metro that provides great shopping, especially for ladies (awesome accessories). I would also reccommend trying the Gelateria on the main street ( exit the B&B, turn right and then left) - best gelato we had in Italy and the friendliest server.
One quick note I have about Rome, especially if you are travelling in the summer. Don't buy bottled water - there are fountains absolutely everywhere that provide drinking water (and its delicious and safe). Just bring one bottle and keep filling up, just keep your eyes open and you'll see them all over the place. And - wear GOOD walking shoes! :)
Enjoy!
