This is my first review on Tripadvisor. I started planning this trip back in Dec 08 for my wife's 40th B-Day this past week. I researched the internet for over 2 months reading other reviews to figure out where it would be best to stay. I kept coming back to Navona Garden Suites because of the positive reviews, location, and price. TRUST ME, the prior reviews were right on.

We arrived on Saturday morning in Rome, and as promised, Navona Garden Suites had someone waiting for us at the airport. When we arrived at Navona Garden Suites, we met Lynda who showed us our room and gave us a tour of a couple of blocks around Piazza Navona. You are less than two small blocks from Piazza Navona. Lynda was incredible. A sweet lady who gave us goods tips on restaurants, shops, and where to eat the best gelato.

Everything was in close walking distance from Navona...15-20 minutes at the most. The only to truely experience Rome is to walk through the back alleys and that is what we did.

The rooms were big and the beds were incredible. I decided to go with a B&B because I wanted the true ROME feel and I believe we got it.

Yes, there was one night where music was being played late into the evening. If I knew where it was coming from, my wife and I would of gone over there to party with them.

Navona also helped us arranged an appointment with the Uffizi Gallarey and The Accademia in Florence. Navona arranged a taxi to the train station for a day trip to Florence.

I would definitely recommend this place and will be going back in a couple of years.

Navona Garden Suites was a great hotel. It's location allowed easy access to every part of the city. When we arrived, we received a tour of the local area alone with the recommendations of where to eat and snack. The staff was extremely friendly, great to talk to, and helped with planning out places to go. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Nightlife (Campo de' Fiori) was very close.

My parents are traveling to Rome next year and I highly recommended to them to stay at Navona Garden Suites.

We stayed at Navona Garden Suites for 4 nights over the New Year. While we enjoyed our stay (more on this later), what would have been a perfect vacation was marred by one incident:

After reading most of the nice comments about Linda we would have to disagree as we had a completely different experience. As we arrived late during our first night at Navona Garden Suites, we had to wait to check in until the following day. Carmelia gave us the keys and showed us around as well. We made an appointment at 5pm but when the time came around we had to wait an hour for her to turn up for checking in. She was really impatient and seemed to have better things to day that day. As we were checking in, we were informed by Carmelia that there was a 10% discount if we paid in cash ( we were never informed of this) and when we offered to go to the ATM Linda refused to wait for us, as she had a bus to catch.
What followed was extremely shocking for the both of us, in all our experience travelling around the world. She lost her patience, even though we were being extremely polite and started screaming (yes, screaming) and swearing (in Italian and English) at us AND Carmelia. We were shocked speechless at this unwarranted display of aggression and felt embarrassed. We paid by credit card to put an end to the mystifying conflict but felt hard done by.
We called Dennis, the owner (he was in the States at the time) and he was very apologetic for Linda’s behaviour. However we feel that it would have been more appropriate if Linda apologised to us personally, and I hoped she apologised to Carmelia, the housekeeper as well.
However on the other end of the scale, we found that Carmelia was extremely nice and helpful. We were happy to be acquainted with her.

Except for Linda, we found Navona Garden Suites as advertised and reviewed. The rooms were comfortable and clean, the breakfast was excellent and plentiful not to mention the espresso machine in the room. There was that problem with the noise from the club next door but if you leave the TV on some music channels it will be no problem.

We booked the navona garden suites for a weekend break away from the UK freeze. We found the location easily, catching the 64 bus from the Termini. On arrival we had a little trouble finding the right button to press on the buzzer (my fault for forgetting), but resolved easily with a check on the paperwork. Just remember, the owners are dentists, and you wont have any problems.

We paid up for our room and they were very kind to upgrade us to Da Vinci 2 (we book the Raphael). We got a special discount for off season, and although on the paperwork it said a 10% discount for cash this was not honoured. Not a problem tho as it was well worth the money paid.

We were shown to our suite, and then Dennis came and gave us a lot of helpful information about the local area, their picks of the restaurants and ice-cream bars, sights and sounds. He was excellent, and was happy enough to let us walk around on our own, which we prefer. Dennis is an amazing host, and i dont think i have been to a place where people have gone out of their way to make you welcome like Dennis did. He even brought us milk in the morning in case we didnt have any... nice.

The location, as stated, is amazing. We had a few annoyances, and a problem. The annoyances were that there was no tv decoder, so we had no tv. We didnt mind this, as we dont watch much telly, but its nice to have some noise in the background, and there is no radio / cd player. The second annoyance was that some of the remotes did not work (they have a remote skylight which is well cool but it had no batteries so we couldnt use it). The last annoyance was the bathroom - the bath is round the wrong way making standing under the shower a problem and causing water to go everywhere, which you then have to wipe up before slipping over, and the towel rail didnt seem to heat either, we couldnt make it go so maybe it was user error :-). There was no extractor fan either which made it very damp. Anyway, these are only annoyances, and easily ignored.

The problem was the noise. It is mentioned in these forums before, but it was worse than i imagined. There is a nightclub on one of the adjoining walls to the suites, and their soundsystem is incredible. I could hear most of the noise clearly, and it rattled the windows and the cups for over 4 hours of Saturday night... I didnt get much sleep, and was a little disappointed. More for Dennis, as I dont believe there is anything more they can do, it is apparently insulated, but the noise penetrates it all. On Sunday there was no nightclub, and it was peaceful bliss!

In summary, would I stay here again? Yes definitely, the location is great, and the service is second to none - but I just wouldnt stay on a Friday, Saturday or apparently Monday night (student night).

We are just back from the Navona Garden suites as a party of 8 - (Michaengelo apt and Da Vinci I and II) and have had a fantastic time.

The location really is perfect, on Via Governo Vecchio across from Campo Del Fiori and Pizza Navona, it really is in walking distance to all the major sites such as the Vatican and the Pantheon etc. Its a unique accommodation experience in terms of the personal touches in the rooms such as the well stocked fridges and little extra's such as antiquities and local guide books etc that give it a very homely feel, as well as the very impressive entrance with huge stone arches and courtyard, you really do feel like you are stepping back in time.

The owner Dennis is extremely helpful, knowledgeable and went out of his way to help with any request we had and proved very helpful with his advice and services such as arranging taxi's etc and there always seemed to be someone on hand to help if we needed it. Carmelia who cleaned our rooms each day was lovely and full of smiles for the children who travelled with us and went above and beyond to help with anything we needed and to reccomend places to visit such as the Pantheon and the Temple of Adriano and really added to our stay.

All in all, a great experence and would definitly stay here again if we visit Rome. The only small downside was that on 2 of the nights there was some noise from the disco nearby but it didnt detract from the stay

  • Liked — Location, super comfy beds, attention from the owners - oh and the location - its that good!
