We booked the navona garden suites for a weekend break away from the UK freeze. We found the location easily, catching the 64 bus from the Termini. On arrival we had a little trouble finding the right button to press on the buzzer (my fault for forgetting), but resolved easily with a check on the paperwork. Just remember, the owners are dentists, and you wont have any problems.

We paid up for our room and they were very kind to upgrade us to Da Vinci 2 (we book the Raphael). We got a special discount for off season, and although on the paperwork it said a 10% discount for cash this was not honoured. Not a problem tho as it was well worth the money paid.

We were shown to our suite, and then Dennis came and gave us a lot of helpful information about the local area, their picks of the restaurants and ice-cream bars, sights and sounds. He was excellent, and was happy enough to let us walk around on our own, which we prefer. Dennis is an amazing host, and i dont think i have been to a place where people have gone out of their way to make you welcome like Dennis did. He even brought us milk in the morning in case we didnt have any... nice.

The location, as stated, is amazing. We had a few annoyances, and a problem. The annoyances were that there was no tv decoder, so we had no tv. We didnt mind this, as we dont watch much telly, but its nice to have some noise in the background, and there is no radio / cd player. The second annoyance was that some of the remotes did not work (they have a remote skylight which is well cool but it had no batteries so we couldnt use it). The last annoyance was the bathroom - the bath is round the wrong way making standing under the shower a problem and causing water to go everywhere, which you then have to wipe up before slipping over, and the towel rail didnt seem to heat either, we couldnt make it go so maybe it was user error :-). There was no extractor fan either which made it very damp. Anyway, these are only annoyances, and easily ignored.

The problem was the noise. It is mentioned in these forums before, but it was worse than i imagined. There is a nightclub on one of the adjoining walls to the suites, and their soundsystem is incredible. I could hear most of the noise clearly, and it rattled the windows and the cups for over 4 hours of Saturday night... I didnt get much sleep, and was a little disappointed. More for Dennis, as I dont believe there is anything more they can do, it is apparently insulated, but the noise penetrates it all. On Sunday there was no nightclub, and it was peaceful bliss!

In summary, would I stay here again? Yes definitely, the location is great, and the service is second to none - but I just wouldnt stay on a Friday, Saturday or apparently Monday night (student night).

We are just back from the Navona Garden suites as a party of 8 - (Michaengelo apt and Da Vinci I and II) and have had a fantastic time.

The location really is perfect, on Via Governo Vecchio across from Campo Del Fiori and Pizza Navona, it really is in walking distance to all the major sites such as the Vatican and the Pantheon etc. Its a unique accommodation experience in terms of the personal touches in the rooms such as the well stocked fridges and little extra's such as antiquities and local guide books etc that give it a very homely feel, as well as the very impressive entrance with huge stone arches and courtyard, you really do feel like you are stepping back in time.

The owner Dennis is extremely helpful, knowledgeable and went out of his way to help with any request we had and proved very helpful with his advice and services such as arranging taxi's etc and there always seemed to be someone on hand to help if we needed it. Carmelia who cleaned our rooms each day was lovely and full of smiles for the children who travelled with us and went above and beyond to help with anything we needed and to reccomend places to visit such as the Pantheon and the Temple of Adriano and really added to our stay.

All in all, a great experence and would definitly stay here again if we visit Rome. The only small downside was that on 2 of the nights there was some noise from the disco nearby but it didnt detract from the stay

If you've ever walked the streets of Rome and wondered what was behind those huge, heavy doors with quaint passages behind, now you can find out. Nestled into an alley of boutiques, food markets, gelato shops and restaurants you'll find a gem of a lodging. Walking to your room is like stepping into a movie set version of Italy featuring a bricked courtyard with over looking balconies and cascading ivies.

You will feel securely tucked away and comfortable here. The beds were the most comfortable of our whole trip, which included 5 star accommodations in other European locals.

My family of 4 with 2 kids ages 9 and 11 were able to stay in the same room instead of 2, which is a rare plus in Europe and the only time on our stay when we didn't have to rent two rooms.

The breakfast consist of a do-it-yourself in room supply of tea, coffee, espresso, toast, juices, pastries, cereal and etc. in a well stocked frig.

Located in the heart of Historic Rome, you will find yourself virtually around the corner from Piazza Navona the Pantheon. The rest of Rome is easily accessible. See the Pantheon at night, the effect is awe inspiring.

We chose Navona Gardens for 3 reasons: Location, price and the great reviews here on Trip Advisor.

We will choose Navona Gardens on our next trip and recommend it to our friends too.

The staff and owner were friendly and offered great advice on the best area sights and places to eat.

A few bits of advice: Generate a detailed map of Navona Gardens’ location to give to your taxi driver and think of Navona Gardens as a guest house rather than a hotel. The "front desk" isn't always staffed although they are extremely helpful and friendly when they are there.

We stayed at Navona Garden Suites in December travelling with some friends which stayed at Navona Gallery suites at te same time. We booked the suites Da Vinci 1 and Da Vinci 2. Both suites were quite spacious accomodating easily 4 people each. The bathrooms were in marble and very elegant. Everything was super clean. But the best thing was the "secret garden"! We had this exclusive garden to ourselves and we felt very lucky. We had a nice welcome tour with Lynda which showed us all the recommended restaurants and stores of the area. All the main attractions were easily accessible from our front door . Romy was our tour guide for the Vatican and she was really professional. The all staff was very helpful and prompted to help even with medical problems.
We had an excellent experience with this b & b and we would like to come back to our "secret garden" in the center of Rome

My wife and I stayed at the Navona Garden Suites for six nights in mid-October and found the location to be incomparable if you like relatively quiet Medieval cobblestone streets, nearby wonderful restaurants and shopping, personal attention, and the feel of a real Roman neighborhood only minutes from Piazza Navona, the Pantheon, and Campo di Fiori. The only downside was that we were promised a room upgrade shortly after booking from their website, and they reneged on this. We stayed in the Da Vinci I room (not a suite), which had two double beds and a clean, modern bathroom--a plus when you consider that the building is 1,500 years old. There is a coffee maker and espresso maker in the room, and the staff provides breads, jam, and juice the night before each morning's breakfast. We supplemented this by buying cheese and yogurt at a very convenient market just a few doors down on Governo Vecchio. There is a refrigerator in the room, and the air conditioning was a welcome touch, as Rome in mid-October was in the mid-70s, but humid. The room was one of the quietest we've ever stayed in in Europe, since it is positioned on a small garden courtyard well away from the street.

Another plus is the plethora of wonderful restaurants within minutes of walking on both Governo Vecchio and especially Via dei Coronari. After dinner be sure to walk to the nearby banks of the Tiber to see the spectacular Castel San Angelo under the floodlights. On Via dei Coronari we recommend Osteria Delli Antiquario and Cantina del Vecchio. Ristorange Sangallo is also quite good, but more upscale (read expensive).

Something to be aware of: The Navona Garden Suites and Navona Gallery Suites are two different properties, with the former fronting on Governo Vecchio and the latter just around the corner in a separate apartment building fronting on a side street. My sister-in-law stayed in a spacious, well-furnished apartment in the Gallery Suites. The room was fine, but four nights a week excessive noise from the crowds in the street milling around outside a night club were a real irritant until the wee hours. There was no noise from the night club itself, but noise from the well lubricated club-goers in the street was a real problem.

On the plus side, the staff was very personable and helpful. For instance, Linda met us at the heavy oaken front door (marked only as a dentist's office) and gave us a one-hour guided tour of the local area. Trust me, you'll still get lost in the warren of medieval streets and alleys, but that's not all bad. The entire staff was very responsive to any questions we had. The hotel arranged for both pickup and delivery back to the airport, and the driver was prompt, efficient, and safe. In sum, we would heartily recommend this B&B to anyone about to stay in Rome--we really felt we were "living in Rome," not just staying in the city.
