in the heart of Rome ,very accessible to all places that mostly everybody goes ,you find this place that with the friendly staff and warm welcoming made us feel a bit at home.
At first you will offered some hot italian drinks which is very nice and you will be provided with so many useful tips that can make your days.
Then in the morning you will be served a brief but nice italian breakfast and then a good day with all italian style.
The rooms are provided with safebox and refrigrator and at the same time of being modern desgined they have their roman feeling and culture, but theyu are a bit small.
In the end i can tell that the place in comparison with the price is really a fair place and if i go back to Rome for sure i will go back there.
Thank you all for all what you did

This hotel is very near to the Metro, I can't remember exactly how we got there, but with a map, you'll be fine, and it is less than 5 minutes walk.

It is based in an apartment block on the 3rd floor.

The room was very nice, and very modern, with card entry to the room. There was a good air con system.

The front desk staff are pleasant, but don't make the little old lady angry! We put a towel down on the bed, and quickly ironed a shirt on there before going out one night, leaving no marks on the towel or the bed, but the iron was left unplugged near the bed, so I guess she must have put 2 and 2 together.
When we got in from sightseeing the next day, she started ranting in italian when we were walking to our door. We didnt understand her at first, as our italian is very basic, but through gestures, got the gist of what she was talking about. We said ok, fine, won't do it again like, but then she followed us in our room, and continued to rant for about 5 mins. I will add that there was already a note written in English asking us not to iron on the bed!
Eventually she went before we ejected her, crazy lady!!

The breakfast is not too hot, but does set you up for the morning.
You get a packet croissant each, a pack of crispbreads, a pack of biscuits, a butter, a jam, and 1 hot drink. It was fine, but we were grateful for more choice in our Florence hotel after 3 days of it!

There is a lovely restaurant nearby - I can't remember the name of it - turn left out of hotel, turn left at the crossroads (past the coffee shop), past a bakery, then it is on the left. You will see it from the main street, I think it was by a church. We found it very reasonable here, and our best meal in Rome.
We also ate in Piazza Navona at Ai Tre Tartufi (nice, but not that special), and on a roof top restaurant opposite the Colosseum. This was also nice, but the one nearer the hotel nicer.

We didnt really go to many bars because we were on a budget, but had a little spare money on our last night in Piazza Navona, so were given a flyer for Anima Bar, Via S.M dell'Anima 57, which do drinks specials. We were told it was 2 for 1, so thought why not? It was a very cool, funky bar, and we asked if cocktails were 2 for 1, and were told they were. I then double checked before we ordered, and was told yes again. When the cocktails came to our table, the lady asked for 20 euro (they were 10 each), then they made out that cocktails were never 2 for 1, it was long drinks. We should have argued, and refused to pay, but we just reluctantly paid, then left, when we were planning to stay for quite a few. So be careful!!!!

The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the Colosseum.

I found this hotel on travelsupermarket. It isn't the cheapest hotel but then hotels in Rome seem to be very expensive! I think we paid about £60 a night. It was worth the money though. It is easy enough to find as long as you have the address and take a map from multimap! The people on the reception were very nice and even though they didn't speak much english they still managed to give us directions and were really helpful. You get keys to the front door and to the hotel so you can come and go as you please. I think breakfast was included but we didnt have it anyway. There is a nice little cafe downstairs and to the left though that is very cheap and we just grabbed breakfast there. It is about a 2 min walk from the metro (vittorio emmanuele), if that! And a 10 min walk from the colesseum. 5-10 mins walk from termini. If you walk 5-10 mins from the hotel you can find quite a few nice little restaurants too. The room was pretty much as you see it on the pics, quite basic but has everything you need! Very unusual ceilings too. The only bad thing i have to say about this hotel is that there never seemed to be any hot water! Although i think if you are going in the summer then it wont be too much of a problem. All in all a nice hotel for the money and well located.

10/10 found this review helpful

We booked this hotel via the Easy Jet web site. The location looked good and the prices OK.

Right, first part of the trick is to find it! We arrived hot and tired in the street given as the address, and walked the length of the street twice looking for some sign that it even existed. No luck.

Then we went into an internet cafe, showed them the address and asked if they knew where it was. Fortunately they spoke English (our Italian is sparse to say the least) and confirmed that the address was indeed the building next door. This consisted of a locked double wooden door with some scaffholding outside it. Quite honestly it looked more line a run down apartment block. Upon searching the block of bell pushes (there were around 20) outside the door, we found one that had a tiny card above it which said "Auditorium di Mecenate". We pushed it and waited...... and waited....... and pushed it again and waited...... and waited........ and repeated this process several times. Eventually another man turned up at the door and let us in with his key, and indicated we should go to the 3rd floor. We did this and found the door to the Hotel.

The lady on reception was Russian, and spoke only Russian and Italian. Anyway, she eventually managed to convey to us that the hotel was fully booked, and that our first night would be in another hotel. A Chinese gentleman then appeared, and helped us with our bags to another hotel three blocks away, which was Chinese owned. Not a problem there - the place was actually quite nice, the only gripe was that the bed was the hardest we have even encountered in our lives. The floor would have been more comfortable.

We transfered to the Auditorium di Mecenate next day under our own steam - no help with bags!

We were shown our room which seemed Ok if very small. It was only when we went to bed that night we discovered that the air conditioning unit was located in a cupboard under the window, which then vented to the outside courtyard! The window was right by the bed so it was like sleeping with a small jet engine running by your head!

Breakfast was a strange affair - delivered on a tray to the room at 'variable' times. Consisted on day one of coffee, croissant, packeted toast, butter and jam yoghurt and a cake.

Day two - coffee and a croissant! We had to ask for the other items which were given grudgingly.

On the upside, the location was good for sightseeing, once you got the hang of Romes chaotic public transport system.

There was no manager on site to voice our concerns to, and I now find from the Easy Jet web site that once you check out, no complaints will be considered!

Be warned!
