“Staying Here Made Our Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 24, 2013

Aside from being lovely immaculate quarters in an excellent location, Our hostess Jada gave us most useful advise on what to see and how to get there, even making reservations for us where that was called for. She made us feel like family. Steven and Brenda from Brooklyn

We stayed for 5 days. The hosts went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant, giving us all the help we needed with getting around in the city, and making all the plans for our stay. The rooms are comfy and clean and there is a computer and even a printer for guests. Kosher wise, 3 family members are quite strict about kosher and felt it was up to there kosher standards.

We stayed 4 nights prior to our cruise and were quite pleased by the warm and accommodating atmosphere of the host and staff. They helped us navigate Rome while making us feel at home. Our suite was clean and afforded us good sleep quality, The food was fine. We would recommend it to all types of travelers..

We have just returned from two nights in Rome, staying at the incredibly hospitable, friendy and warm-welcoming Home in Rome.

From the first email contact with Eva and Jade, we felt that this kosher apartment in Rome would be an ideal base for our family (2 adults and 2 young children) from which to see the city. During the booking process, Eva and Jade provided excellent information about the apartment and the surrounding area in terms of kosher facilities within 3-4 minute walk (minimarket, bakeries and restaurants) and shuls, as well as its proximity in Piazza Bologna to the Colosseum and other major tourist locations.

When we arrived, we were greeted by Eva's husband who was so welcoming and smiley to us, and took the trouble to ensure our every question was answered, and that we were comfortable in our accommodation. He was also patient and friendly with our two excitable children (aged 4 and 8)

He then advised us on the best way to get round Rome, and what to beware of (unnecessary sightseeing tickets, and pickpockets on the Metro). We were also provided with a personalised map of the immediate local area and places of Jewish interest, as well as a map of Rome and directions to our first tourist visit of the day. This was topped off with slices of delicious homemade blueberry pie.

The apartment is just a minute's walk from the Metro, and seconds from the number 62 bus stop which goes all the way through central rome, making access to public transport very easy. From the apartment to the Colosseum was about 15-20 minutes, door-to-door.

In terms of food, the Home in Rome provides a substantial kosher breakfast, with many options (our kids described it as a "feast"), including croissants, cereals, salads, rolls, jams, juice, and hot drinks. This was all provided in the apartment's large dining room / lounge. Furthermore, drinks and cake were available at any time of day to us and the other guests.

Each morning, Jade visited us and the other guests to ensure we were all ok and check whether we needed anything in the apartment or for the day ahead, such as maps, guide books or food (just as any good Jewish hostess would).

Our family room had an en-suite bathroom, and was fantastic value for money. At night, with our kids asleep, we were able to relax in the dining room / lounge, and had access to a laptop and wifi.

Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time in Rome, and were delighted with our choice of accommodation, which far exceeded our expectations. We would there whole-heartedly recommend anyone to stay at the Home in Rome and take advantage of the incredible generosity and hospitality on offer.

My wife is Jewish who occasionally attends a Reformed synagogue. I am your basic redneck agnostic. So we really cannot address the kosher portion, but there were several observant Jews staying there while we did. I bring this up because the B&B works for all. Do not let the kosher put you off if you are not observant or are not Jewish. And if you are this is your place.

The B&B is in a converted apartment and is very roomy. The rooms are clean and well maintained. There is a large common area for breakfast and just lounging. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juices and bottled water are provided round the clock. The owner provided a home baked pastry all the time also. The breakfast was kosher and plentiful. We were quite ready to start a busy day after partaking. With the room we stayed in, we shared the bathroom. We never found this to be an issue.

There are no words to describe how helpful the owners and the staff were. They are genuinely interested that your stay in their beloved city of Rome be good and go smoothly.

While a little away from the center of town, it is right on a Metro line only 3 stops from the train station. Bus 62 takes you right to the heart of Rome and all its attraction. There is a bus stop right outside the door if you are coming back. If you not been to Rome, the public transportation system is quite good and inexpensive. Except for one taxi ride and lots of walking, we used exclusively to get around Rome.

The B&B is away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist area, I found that a huge positive. It is an area mostly for the inhabitants of Rome. There are several nice restaurants and cafes close by. Not being party animals, we were after a quiet, homey place to stay. The Home in Rome met our expectations.

Since we both threw coins in the Trevi Fountain I know we are coming back to Roma. When we do we will stay here.

My husband, 5 children and I spent a night either side of our cruise in this B&B in Rome. I would not hesitate to recommend this 'home from home'! The rooms are clean, airy and well furnished. The breakfast is more than sufficient and tea, coffee and Italian torta was available all day. There is a bus stop into the historic centre right outside the building and a metro stop 50metres away, making it very accessible. I think what sets this B&B above the rest is the amazing staff. Dhelia went out of her way to help our large family settle in and Giada's knowledge and helpfulness made our short time very informative and fruitful. They made us feel like it was 'home'. We look forward to a return visit, only next time we will stay longer.

Room Tip: This B&B is not very big, we were fortunate to get a room, so I would suggest booking ahead!
