Latinum is a small hotel with only about 12 rooms. The breakfast area is small but not too small and the glass floor in reception is great, showing the 'ruins' below.
The desk was always manned and the staff were friendly although their English skills varied! The breakfast was tasty enough, although not with a great deal of variety.
The location of the hotel is not too central but that suited us as we like a walk. If you are OK with a 25-30 minute walk, the Colosseum is not too far. The trams are right outside and the metro is a 5 minute walk away. Locally, there are a couple of restaurants and places to drink but not a great deal that we could find.
The room itself if nice enough and the en-suite is roomy. The rooms are air-conditioned, which is definitely a necessity in the summer, and there is a TV in there although with no UK TV as far as we could tell. We were road facing and the room was a little noisy at night. This was fine for us as we live on a main road but some people may find it disturbing.
We took one water from the mini-bar and would recommend you use the many water fountains dotted around the city to fill them up before you get home.
It is well worth mentioning that the roof terrace is great. A number of times we went down to reception to buy a half bottle of wine for 5EUR and took it to the roof, a great way to relax after a hard day wandering around Rome! It's not something which the hotel mentioned to us directly and we only knew about it from reading about it on TripAdvisor.
I would definitely come back to the Latinum on another visit to Rome.
