My wife and I recently returned from an excellent short break in Rome and we were so glad with our hotel we just had to come onto Trip Advisor and tell the world. Hotel Vaticano was a brilliant hotel in a fantastic location and despite having a little trouble finding it at first, we found the staff accommodating, friendly and downright super. The breakfast in the morning was one of the highlights of the trip (especially the sugar-glazed croissant) and within a ten minute walk you found yourself in the centre of the Vatican City! Bellisimo! The only tiny, tiny quibble was that in our room (the Pantheon) we could hear anyone walking up and down the corridor quite clearly and when the espresso machine got going in the morning we knew about it! That's a minor thing though and the coffee was so tasty it was worth it. In all seriousness though, if you're looking for a classy, comfortable hotel in the heart of the Eternal City you should look no further: Hotel Vaticano was a superb find and we'd happily go there again.

Lovely brand new hotel, feels like you are staying in your own bedroom apartment in Rome, 5mins walk to St. Peter's. lovely breakfast of croissants and tea. Old style lift to get to third floor v cool. Loved it. V helpful English speaking staff gave lots of tips on where to go. Icing on the cake for a lovely trip.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room, the one next to the main desk is a bit noisy in the morning.

Just returned from a 3 day trip here. It's an excellent base in a very nice location. We had trouble finding it (see the hotel's photo of the front door exterior) walked straight past it but it wasn't just us, as we were going out one day we ran into another couple trying to find it. It's based 3 floors up accessible by a small lift or stairs.

It has a nice full sized bed, spacious bathroom with shower and was cleaned everyday.

On arrival the girl who seemed to always work the evening's on reception gave us a map and pointed out locations of interest and the best walking routes. You can easily walk to some of the sights like the Vatican & Trevi Fountain, the the only time we had to use the metro was to visit the Colosseum.

Breakfast consisted of pastries/bread/juice/coffee - select what you prefer from a list and what time you like it serving and it is brought to your room. Was my husband's 40th birthday on our first full day, after a busy day sightseeing we came back to some surprise nibbles and some wine which was a lovely gesture courtesy of the hotel.

Saw 3 or 4 different people on reception and each were helpful and pleasant. After the stress of catching the terravision bus from the airport to the termini (basically everyman for themselves and just barge on - no queuing system at all), and then getting the metro to the nearest stop near the hotel, we let the hotel arrange a taxi for our return to the airport. It cost 50 euros which is just a few euros more than the standard taxi price charged.

Free Wi-fi.

We were both really pleased staying here and would recommend.

I'd also recommend Spaccio Pasta as a good value restaurant quite close by.

A charming hotel in an excellent location. The hotel is located within short walking distance of the Vatican, but in a very upmarket residential area with plenty of bars, (I recommend l'Piccolo Diavlo) and restaurants but free from the flower-sellers and pickpockets that abound across the river.

The breakfast-in-bed is a lovely touch and of a very high quality, that is real coffee and real food! The staff are lovely and helpful and the rooms are new and tastefully decorated. It's only a ten minute walk across the bridge to the center of Rome and the main shopping district, a further ten minutes to the Forum etc or five minutes to the trevi fountain. As walking is a great way to see Rome, unless you're frail, it's a fantastic place to base yourself.

The rooms are large enough, spotlessly clean, and, in a rarity for European hotels, the bed (in a double room) is a genuine double bed! The bathroom is extremely clean, nicely appointed and has a roomy shower. There is the usual wifi, minibar and television but I'd advise spending your time at one of the cafes around the hotel, or l'Piccolo or the restaurant downstairs, it's too nice an area to spend too much time cooped up inside.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a window into the courtyard.
