We walked past it before realizing it was part of a bunch of pensiones in a building. The only obvious sign is one which says HOTELS. Inside the building are 6 hotels, each floor of the building is its own hotel. The room looked very new. It was comfortable and had its own shower and toilette.
To get in, we had to go to the registration desk of a different hotel on the opposite side of the building, trying to use an elevator which did not work. We walked up stairs to the reg desk at the Luna Hotel, checked in for the Orbis Hotel, and got our keys. The elevator worked going down, but not going up.
The Orbis hotel has a lot of security cameras, and they buzz you into the entry. Orbis hotel appears to be a set of 10 rooms on one floor of a building. We paid 72 euros at Venere for the night. It is 2 blocks from the train station. If you walk outside the trainstation it would be exactly 2 blocks behind the McDonalds if you could walk thru walls. It is across the street from the hotel California, assuming you are facing both the Hotel California and the cheap internet-long distance calling stores.
I called USA from the cheap long distance calling store, and talked for a few minutes. The rate was 6 cents per minute. My 9 minute call costed me only 54 cents total.
Since this is only 2 blocks from Rome Central Station (also called Termini) it is in a BAD neighborhood. There are pickpockets and purse snatchers everywhere. Someone snatched our diet coke thinking it was a money wallet.
