Perfectly placed just outside the tourist traps of the old town this delightful B&B was the ideal spot for a couple looking to relax in Rome. Transport links were excellent with a Metro stop a stones throw away and a wealth of buses leaving from the squares outside the close-by Vatican.

The good gentleman who owns this establishment was always on hand to help with travel advice and ideas for where to dine.

We would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a clean, spacious, relaxed place to stay - exactly as it says on the site.

I booked Domus Betti on-line directly on their website on Oct 9, 2007. I received back a reply confirmation. On Oct 10, I received an email from Armando Betti that he was sorry he had no booking available for the dates I wanted. I considered this a cancellation of my reservation and sought accommodation elsewhere.

Now 8 months later, at 4:00 am in the morning, I received a telephone call from Mr. Betti regarding my reservation. I was surprised as I thought this was cancelled long ago. He stated the cost was not going to be 85 EUR, but now was 130 EUR, did I still want the room. I told him NO, when I received his email stating he did not have availability the dates I needed I had sought accommodation elsewhere. He was surprised that I no longer wanted the room, but told me to cancel the reservation. I again told him I considered that he had cancelled my reservation when he said he had no availability.

With these mistakes and changes, I certainly wouldn't take a chance now of travelling all that distance, arriving in Rome not knowing if I had a room reservation or not. I feel this is a very poor way to run a business.

My boyfriend took me to Rome for my birthday in May. When he said we were staying in a bed and breakfast I wasnt expecting very much. However when we arrived I was pleasently suprised!
We were greeted by an Italian man who showed us around the very small b&b. It has 5 rooms and each one is decorated differently which I found very cool. We were given a double room overlooking the street below and it felt so homely and Italian! Also the bathrooms were so new and clean.
After going for a walk we realised we were next to the Vatican city which was very interesting and the area had a lot of nice resturants and bars and was next to a metro station so easy access to the coloseum etc.
Our room was cleaned every day and I loved the way you were brought breakfast (Croissant and Cappucino) fresh from the bakery across the road in bed every morning by our little Italian man! (he even brought me a rose on my birthday!)
We were very well looked after and it was great being able to talk to someone any time of the day to discuss places to go and see and be pointed in the right direction of amazing and cheaper Italian resturants than those all of the tourists were eating at. Also we were told about the smallest and oldest ice cream shop in Rome which sold the most amazing ice cream! you have to go..."The Old Bridge" opposite the wall of the vatican city.
I enjoyed my trip so much and it was so lovely staying somewhere where the owner cared so much about his guests and really tried to help you make the most out of your stay.
I would recommend this b&b to couples of all ages and my parents and boyfriends parents hope to go there soon.

We stayed at Domus Betti from 7th to 12th April, booking our stay through the Domus Betti web site. We chose Domus Betti after a recommendation from a work colleague who had stayed there in autumn 2007, and we were looking for good budget accommodation in central Rome.

The Domus Betti is located just three minutes walk from "Ottaviano - San Pietro" metro station on line 'A' from Roma Termini main railway station, and is also 5 minutes walk from St Peter's Square, the Vatican and the Vatican museums. It is in a pleasant and safe neighbourhood with shops, trattoria, pizzeria, restaurants, bars, and other businesses.

There are several shops offering internet facilities also within a few minutes walk. The no.19 tram route passes by (which links the Vatican and the Villa Borghese park and museums, amongst other places) and there are 24 different bus routes serving the immediate vicinity too.

We arrived at Fiumicino Airport at 1800 and had just missed a 'Leonardo Express' to Termini when we arrived on the airport railway station platform, so we caught a local, stopping, train as far as Roma Trastevere station and took a taxi from there direct to the hotel. The metered fare from Trastevere to Domus Betti was €12.50.

On arrival, Mr Betti, the owner of Domus Betti, met us and we found him to be a very helpful, friendly and informative gentleman (but not intrusively so) - we couldn't have hoped for a better host.

We ate at a local Hosteria/Pizzeria (called "Da Vito E Dina" in Via Degli Scipioni a few minutes walk away) on our first evening which was recommended to us by Mr Betti and this proved to be our base for evening meals for the duration of our stay. It was a good budget choice with simple, but good, food (and a varied range, from starters and meat/fish dishes including some Roma specialities, as well as pasta and pizza) and all at good prices and with friendly service too.

Our room was of a perfectly adequate size, and although our (en suite) bathroom was small, this was a budget choice stay so we found it to be fine for the money we were paying which worked out at €110 per night for the room.

This also included a small breakfast of orange juice, cappuccino and a croissant which was brought to our room, and also an espresso afterwards too if we wished. This again we felt was fine for the price range we had chosen for accommodation for this trip. There was also a bowl of fruit in the room to eat from as we wished, with apples, oranges, kiwi fruit and a banana.

There was a mini-fridge in the room so that we could store our own cold drinks / other items, and there was a small television (Italian TV only), but we hadn't come to Rome to watch the television so didn't use it! There is no air-conditioning and the B&B is located on the first floor up in a residential block - the lift doesn't stop on the first floor but it is only 20 steps up, no big deal.

Our private bathroom was quite cramped but had a shower cubicle, lavatory and good-sized sink, as well as a hair-dryer, and was good enough to meet our needs for our stay.

All in all, I would recommend Domus Betti to travellers on a budget. Those who prefer more space and luxury always have the choice of paying much much more elsewhere.

We will be making a return visit to Domus Betti at some stage in the future to complete our sightseeing in Rome.

My girlfriend and I just took a trip to Rome and stayed at the Domus Betti B&B. The location was excellent and we were right next to a metro station(which was great since we took a red eye to get there). The owner was extremely friendly and helpful when it came to bus and bar recommendations (he also makes a great cup of espresso!). The rooms were also in great shape and very comfortable. highly recommended!
