We stayed at this hotel from December 29th 2007 thru Jan 2nd 2008. It is a bit off of the beaten path in the middle of a residential neighborhood, but it is well worth it for the amenities and service. You will be pleasantly surprised as the hotel is very new and clean. We booked a room for $125.00 per night online, but the service was what I have received from higher end hotels.
The rooms have a card system which activates the lighting and is green friendly. Everything is new and spacious, our first reserved room had a malfunction problem with the card system and within 10 minutes we were in a new room with our baggage transferred for us. So you have to say this is a rarity. There is internet TV, refrigerator and an excellent sized restroom.
It was quiet and well kept. The beds are much nicer than expected. In comparison to many of the hotels you find in Europe this room was spacious. The rooms have large balcony style windows, but unfortunately you cannot exit out to the outside. This wasn't a problem and we found the suburban architecture near the hotel interesting. It is a safe neighborhood.
The included breakfast was great and there were plenty of options. For those on a budget you will find it more than sufficient and helpful as it seems many breakfast places do not open early in Rome save for Mc you know whats.
The Chappanelle Hippodrome and Appian way are very close by and many of the main attraction in Rome are 20 mins away. The staff were very gracious with their help in providing directions and have a printable schedule of buses, routes and shuttle times. We called the hotel before we arrived and they gave us bus route numbers and details on arrival from the train station.
The hotel provides a shuttle service that departs in the morning and takes you to the subway. It will also pick up guests there in the evening, but make sure you are on time or you will be stuck taking the Bus in Rome which is not the swiftest of choices. In fact taking the Bus to this hotel is quite a pain, due to the inconsistency of the Roman bus system, but it does show up right at the front of the Hotel so this is good.
*If you are coming from the United States, I think you will enjoy this hotel compared to others in Rome, not only for the price, but it is secluded from the hustle and bustle of downtown Rome. A couple of families from the states were there during our stay. This is helpful as you can swap experiences for navigating the Roman sites.
I would stay here again.
