“Very welcoming!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

I recently went to Italy for the first time and chose this hotel from the Rick Steves' Italy guidebook. It was a great location - just blocks from the Colosseum, Forum, and Palatino. The staff was very helpful finding buses to other famous sights. We were very pleased with our stay! Grazie!

I stayed here with my Mum recently for 6 nights, we were very happy with the hotel and would stay again. As two women travelling together, we were aware of security and deliberately stayed in a central location. To enter the courtyard for the hotel (from the main road) you must press a buzzer and a light comes on with a camera to check who is looking to enter. Once through the main door, a member of staff look out the window to confirm you are a guest then open to the hotel door. We were very pleased with this and felt very comfortable coming home at night. I would look at google street view before you travel as the hotel is not very obvious.

The hotel is run by a family who could not do enough to help us - they ordered taxis, printed tickets, gave us a hairdryer..anything we asked. There is also a fridge in the reception with drinks which was very useful and reasonably priced (€1 for a large bottle of water). The room was basic but very clean and comfortable, had everything we needed. TV was all Italian channels, air conditioning did it's job. Bathroom was small with a really good shower. Our room looked out onto the small street along the back of the hotel (ask reception about the restaurant behind the hotel). It was definitely quite noisy but this is to be expected in such a central location - maybe take some ear plugs!

We ate at Cavour 313 - wine bar, not cheap but amazing ham/cheese/honey/walnuts starter. The "Pizza & Pasta" place on the corner next to the petrol pump was a bit of a tourist trap. I would suggest browsing menus before being talked into any restaurants as prices can vary.

When we went to the Colosseum we had already purchased the "combo" ticket online and walked past a massive queue - definitely worth it!

Enjoy!

Room Tip: Not too close to reception but other reviewers have also said not onlooking the main road.

Hotel Rosetta was a great find not only for price but location and staff. We stayed 3 nights of our honeymoon and found it a real Rome experience. Only issue was the small bathroom but then again it is Rome. The best mini bar for prices we saw in Italy.

Room Tip: All rooms are on the same floor so if you like less noise, try and ask for one farthest away from th...

The reason to stay here is because of the location. I would stay here again because it is located right where I wanted to be. You walk out the door and you are 2 blocks from the colosseum, two blocks from the Roman Forum. Two blocks from Trajan's Forum, Four Blocks from Capitol hill. Once I was able to walk down to the circus massimo and see Palatine Hill while my wife took a little nap. Location was close to the metro and a short taxi ride from everywhere else.
The downside. It is a bit loud at night. With a fairly busy road outside and the window in our room not as sound proof as I would have hoped. Ear plugs took care of the problem. But in their defense jet lag may have made me more sensitive to background noise.
The service was awesome. They were so helpful with anything I needed. Very accommodating.
I would stay here again because I really loved the location but I would bring ear plugs just in case. Also the hotel was a great value. I feel I got a really good deal, which is not something you hear often when talking about Rome:) The rooms are up one flight of stairs.

Rooms were typical of a small family run establishment. Cozy, comfortable enough. Good water pressure and hot water. The family who runs the place were very sweet. They speak a little English but not much. We used some "Learn Tourist Italian" CD's and that helped with communication.
The biggest advantage of this hotel is LOCATION! If you are interested in seeing the Colosseum and the Roman Forum this hotel is a 3-5 minute walk to each. It was great to visit the Colosseum knowing that when the jet lag hit us we could be back in our bed in five minutes for a quick nap.

Room Tip: Bring ear plugs if you are bothered by noise as there are some early morning trucks that load and un...

My daughter and I stayed at the Rosetta for 4 nights while in Rome. It is a small family run hotel in the heart of ancient Rome. Very easy walk to the Colosseum. The owners are very accomodating and helpful with sightseeing hints. Rooms are small, very clean and have everything that you need. Fortunately the air conditioning works well - it was very hot, typical July in Rome.

This place did me right on a recent trip to Italy. Though the rooms are a bit on the small side they are well kept and clean and had everything we needed-a bed, a tv, a wardrobe, and a bathroom with a shower. The Location was awesome, within walking distance of the Colloseum and Roman Forum(and other sites), and close to a metro station to get you to places you can't walk to.
