I wanted to love this hotel. It has everything that appeals to me, great location, boutique hotel, old building but decorated with a modern aesthetic. On paper it all looked perfect.
We booked directly with the hotel and everything went smoothly when we arrived.
The room looked exactly like the photos on the website except it really needed a good cleaning. The white walls were beat up and desperately in need of paint, the bottom edge of the white curtains was black with dirt, the sofa was stained and had marks where they had tried to clean it, there was a film of dust on top of the fabric headboard and from the wrinkly condition of the sheets, I'm not confident they had been changed. To top it off, the toilet seat was cracked clean through and the soap dish in the shower was broken off. The room looked like it had been through one too many spring break parties.
Would I stay here again? Maybe... if I couldn't find anything else appealing in the price range. The location was excellent. The public spaces are lovely. The room was huge with french doors that opened onto the alley in front.. The staff was helpful and breakfasts were delicious (even if the saucers were chipped).
I'm a stickler for details and while this hotel has great potential, our room fell apart in the details.
