We went to Rome for Wales' match in the Six Nations, so we wanted a cheap base.

This hotel is a sweetie, based in an old palazzo, just off the Via Nazionale, but once through the door it is modern and pristine. Some reviewers criticise Italian streets, but if you go to an ancient city, ancient streets are part of the charm. The entrance led to a courtyard, complete with little fountain, wide doorways leading to marble stairs, with an ancient lift to one side. Bathrooms were lovely and there was a decent continental breakfast.

I would stay there again, even though we were locked out one tired afternoon.

I do not mind that this hotel does not have spacious lobby, i do not mind that this hotel does not have spacious breakfast room, moreover i don't mind that this hotel is not 5 star hotel!
But i highly appreciate the fact that this hotel is so clean ...like home, staff is friendly like we are friends and the location is unbeatable! You can enjoy a great sleep in a quiet street right in the middle of everything!
This was my second time with galatea...this time with more friends, and we all agreed...we will come back again and again!
Thank you all in galatea for a great...second...visit!
Ci vediamo...!

This was a good low cost option in Rome. It is close to Termini, metro stops and easily walkable to most landmarks in the city. The hotel is on the 3rd floor of a building so could be a little tricky for some people to find. You can get a lot of exercise on the stairs as the lift is pretty small, which didn't bother us but may be difficult for elderly people or people with a lot of luggage.

Check in was efficient and staff made an effort all the time to ask if everything was ok or if we needed anything which was nice. Breakfast was limited but at least it was provided which is always good when on a budget. The room itself was fine, the only complaint being the bed was very hard and could be uncomfortable for some. The bathroom was quite nice and the room was cleaned very well each day.

This was a good budget stay in a convenient location.

We arrived at the Hotel after dismissing our Taxi and dragging our luggage up to the 3rd Floor only to be told that they had a plumbing problem? and could not accommodate us, but had booked us in his brothers hotel on other side of Rome. This has happened to other people before so I was a bit suspicious(As I read in another review I thought it might be a once only event)
The Hotel he booked us at was very nice and close to the Termini it was called The Astoria Garden Hotel. Book directly into that Hotel and you won't be disappointed or have to pay an extra cab fare as no compensation was forthcoming to us.

We stayed at this hotel on two different occasions while we were in Italy, at the beginning of the month and at the end of the month. We were pleased both times.

We found this hotel to be in a great location as it was fairly close to the metro and we could walk to all sorts of attractions.

The hotel was very clean, comfortable and quiet. We were also happy that there was a bathtub in the bathroom, as we found a lot of Italian hotels (or the ones we stayed it), didn't have a tub. My only complain which is fairly minor is that the bed was rather hard.

The air conditioning worked great, which was a blessing after walking around in the 35+ heat.

Staff was friendly and helpful.

We would definitely stay at this hotel again.
