My husband and I stayed five nights last September in hotel Galatea. We chose this hotel based on the reviews because of its location and we weren't disappointed. Walking distance to Colosseum, to the Termini station (for train and metro), two blocks from the bus stop, close to good restaurants. The room was very clean and modern and the shower was great. It also had a safe that they don't charge extra. The staff was very friendly and spoke English. One of the cons was the breakfast. Just a few options, so after a few days we started having breakfast in the café downstairs to vary a little bit (good and cheap). Also, as other hotels in Europe, the bed was a little bit too hard, so after a few nights our backs started complaining. The TV had only Italian channels which for us wasn't a big deal because we could understand but it would be nice if they had cable to have some international channels. But overall was a nice stay.

My wife and I stayed in Hotel Galatea over a weekend in September. We had a great experience. The staff were warm, friendly and informative. The location was great...quiet area, with a local feel, but still close to all the tourist spots. There were some great restaurants nearby too. The rooms were fairly sized, very clean and modern. The building where the hotel is located is very local...you feel like you live in Rome when you walk through the building courtyard and into the stairwell. All very genuine.
We would definitely recommended to friends (and already have!).

Having booked the hotel,then reading the reviews I would agree with the review about first impressions arriving outside.
Once up to the hotel via the old style lift it was completely different.
The staff were helpful.room clean with good A/C,the bed appears to be solid cement but is surprisingly comfortable.

We booked this hotel on www.venere.com, an excellent website to use when booking hotels in Italy that has great discounted rates. The location of the hotel is good, it's walking distance to the train station, Tivoli fountain, Coliseum, Opera house, internet cafe, shopping, etc.

Our room was very clean, it had a good sized bathroom. The elevator is tiny but we were grateful there was one. The entrance to the hotel is not completely apparent, but once you find it, it's sort of novel how you walk through large wooden doorways into an inner courtyard.

The staff were excellent, they gave us terrific recommendations for restaurants, they were friendly, they spoke English and they were attentive to our needs.

Breakfast had a good variety of cold cuts, a selection of pastries, juice and espresso/capuccino.
