“Tucked away but well located”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

Pros: Well located (around 10-15 minutes walk from Termini, Colosseum, and Trevi Fountain). We even walked to the Vatican which is on the other side of the city taking in the sights on the way. Restaurants and bars a few minutes away on Via Nazionale and also towards the Colosseum.
Clean and modern, but basic. No fridge in the room, but hairdryer in the bathroom and aircon.
TV with more stations than I could count (but only 1 with English speaking programmes)

Cons: On the 3rd floor of an apartment block with no real frontage onto the street. The lift is tiny and only starts from the 1st floor.
Breakfast was basic, brioche/marble cake/pastries/2 choices of cereal but not nice tasting milk. Some other not very nice juice which was orange in colour but tasted like passion fruit or mixed fruit. We were given a room with a double bed, despite me sending an e-mail requesting 2 separate beds as I was traveling with my son, which was confirmed. The situation was however rectified quickly whilst we were at dinner and the double bed was split. Overall not fantastic for £120 per night, but adequate for the amount of time you are actually in the room.

On May 31st 2012 I needed a hotel for one night as I was passing through to northern Italy.
I wanted a hotel in the area of Piazza Madonna dei Monti - a favourite restaurant area of mine.
Galatea was available and I was very pleased with that accomodation. Clean, well appointed with an excellent breakfast. The facilities are modern and well appointed and I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid a room near the breakfast area as it is somewhat noisy in the early morning

We stayed here for two nights, and were very pleased with our stay. The room was clean, the bathroom was very modern, the breakfast was standard Italian breakfast. The hotel is located in walking distance from the train station, and the receptionist was very helpful in locating and writing down the nearest bus stop on a map, so we had no trouble getting from place to place. Professional, welcoming and helpful staff. We were supposed to stay there for another night but had to check out one day earlier, so that we could see Pisa as well. The receptionist even called us on our cell to check and confirm that we had not mixed up our check-out date, because we were leaving earlier even though we had paid for the next day. We'll be back next time!

We had spent quite a bit of time reference trip advisor reviews and various other websites for the best hotel in Rome for the price we wanted to pay. This hotel definitely met our criteria.
Our room was clean, spacious and just a short walk from many of the sites we wanted to see.

Additional Notes:
- You must climb one flight of stairs before you can take the elevator up.

I was hoping considering how little we paid for the room that my review could revolve around the phrase, 'Rome wasn't built in a day, but this place could well have been'. However, this place was far from it. Perfectly located in the city, despite being tucked away in a quiet little backstreet, great for getting away from any noise, perfect for any whingey types. Some excellent bars and restaurants minutes away by foot (particularly the Sailor's Bar, a spot on cocktail bar which we vaguely remember having an excellent night in). Not once did we have to use public transport through the entirety of the five-night stay. In fact, sites such as the Colosseum or Trevi Fountain are only around ten minutes walk away.
The lift up to the reception, if the stairs are too much after one too many Peroni's, is a little small. Never proved a problem, mind. Apart from when the gentleman on reception reminded us one morning that we got stuck in it after a night out... But that was undoubtedly my own fault.
The reception, the staff, the rooms are all absolutely perfect for us. Very friendly and helpful at reception, no space issues in the bedroom or en suite also perfectly clean and cleaned every day. Moreover, if you're there to see Rome, you won't be spending an awful lot of time in the hotel anyhow. Making it the perfect retreat after a long night to grab a bottle of wine and return to (we snuck it in, I don't know where they stand on that...). Only thing left was the breakfast, I'm sure you'll have picked up from the tone of this review, a full English would have been ideal every morning. However, what was provided definitely did the trick.
All in all, perfect place to stay for a little getaway to Rome. We would highly recommend it to anyone.

One of the best hotels we stayed in on our entire trip, it was quietly tucked away from the main street so we were quite surprised when we found it. The bathroom was so huge it was almost the size of the room itself. Everything was clean and modern, plenty of maps and coupons available at reception handy for tourists, and the staff were very helpful and fluent in English. They warned us about the pick pockets in Rome, and sure enough, we were almost robbed! Thankfully we were on the look out otherwise our trip would not have gone so well. We would highly recommend this hotel.
