I'm at a bit of a loss as to why the Hotel Lodi has received such consistently good reviews. Admittedly, the staff are incredibly friendly, hardworking and helpful, there's a garden, you can get internet access and the use of a small kitchen. However, our room - a double - was appalling, and very small. The walls and ceiling were stained, the bed was tiny and the mattress dipped in the middle so I ended up sleeping on the floor, and there was no air conditioning, so I woke up every morning hardly able to swallow as my throat was so sore. To top it off, we were situated near the toilet so were kept awake by the sound of the flush throughout the night. And as we were at the front of the building, we also got woken up early by the traffic (this isn't exactly a quiet suburban side street).

It's additionally worth bearing in mind that the hotel isn't centrally located, so you'll also have to pay for public transport whenever you want to get into the city centre. It's not far, but Rome's terrible congestion means you might be on the bus for a while!

If you're backpacking and used to slumming it, I suppose that this place might be okay. And I'd like to assume that the price for a dorm room would be more reasonable than the (not inconsiderable) sum we paid for the above. However, if you want a comfortable, quiet, reasonably-priced option, this is not the place for you.

  • Liked — The staff are wonderful - and really tried their best to improve our experience
  • Disliked — The room - ugly, small, uncomfortable and probably not clean

I stayed in the Hotel Lodi this past July, and cannot say enough good things about the people there. Everyone went out of their way to make sure I had the best possible stay in Rome, from great tips on things to do, to making sure I made my final train out of Rome. The beautiful courtyard is the perfect place for breakfast and hanging out with fellow travelers after a long day. The quiet location makes for a good sleep, and it's very convenient to grocery, laundry, and the bus to all the tourist attractions. I highly, highly reccomend this hotel.

Hotel Lodi is an excellent place to stay: clean, safe, cozy - it should be all you need to feel great. The staff is very friendly and they really try to meet your needs and to make you feel comfortable. Next time in Rome, I will return to Hotel Lodi also.

If you expect a luxurious hotel with spa, pool and palm waving greek gods and godesses Hotel Lodi is deffinetly not your spot. - But if you instead are looking for a cosy, lowprice hotel with amazing and helpful staff this is the place to go. If you´ve got a problem they will solve it: if you say jump, they say how high! We loved it. It is a great place to meet new friends and we deffinetly recomend it!

  • Liked — the staff and the garden
  • Disliked — the bathroom - always wet floor
