One world... Great!!!!
Staff , rooms, location... Very very good
Me and my wife stayed at the St George for a romantic long week-end.
We had a fantastic time and experience the hotel as part of the romantic trip we planned to Rome, the town of the "Dolce Vita" ... and we felt that we have been treated as Hollywood stars!
The room was cosy and spotless, the staff was really corteous and well prepared to make our stay unforgettable! All the staff was corteous but we feel that we have to highlight the Front Office Team, and Mr Landini, (hope we spelt right his name), the Front Office Manager for his Impeccable Customer Service and the way he manage his Team.
For sure we will return to Rome... for sure at the St Geroge! Well done guys!
We stayed at the St George at the end of September for 4 nights. I booked the hotel through its website and received a good rate because it was for 4 nights. We had a junior suite and our son had a single room next door. Our junior suite was the biggest hotel room I have ever had in a major capital city. We even had a walk in wardrobe! Our sons room was more than large enough. Both rooms looked out on to the Via Guilia but were very quiet. The rooms were light, modern and very comfortable. Not dark and fusty like a lot of hotel rooms in Rome. The bathrooms were also very good with modern plumbing, good water pressure and plenty of room.
The location is fantastic. Easy walking distance to St Peters, Piazza Navona and the Campo de Fiori. The number 116 bus (which is a small electric bus) runs down via Guilia and then winds its way over towards the Pantheon, up the Corso, through Piazza Barbarini and then up the Via Veneto into the Borghese gardens. There are also a number of other larger buses that run from the end of the Via Guilia. We took a bus from there over to the main train station as we wanted to go to Tivoli to see the Villa D'este.
The service was also great. The staff at the front desk were all very helpful and pleasant as were the house maids. We didn't want a duvet on our bed as we prefer a blanket and the house maid couldn't understand so she just pulled out her mobile phone and rang a member of staff who spoke English so we could explain what we wanted to them and they then explained it to her.
The breakfast was one of the nicest we had in Europe. You were able to eat out doors and there was plenty of fresh fruit, pastries and hot and cold items. Everything was very clean and nicely presented. The pool was not large but nice to dip into at the end of a long hot day of sight seeing.
We have stayed in a number of different hotels in Rome and now couldn't imagine staying anywhere else.
This hotel is very modern and clean. The rooms are average size by European standards. The breakfast that is included with the reservation included hot items as well as cheeses, smoked salmon, pastries, fresh orange juice and champagne for Mimosas. We were so busy with tours that we never had time to use the spa. We went up to the roof top lounge and it was completely empty on a Saturday night. We did not stay for a drink.
We booked through Priceline, so for a very reasonable price we were able to enjoy this 5* hotel. I'm not sure I would pay their going rate, however. A very nice American style breakfast was included with our stay and even included mimosas. The front desk staff were very friendly & eager to help. The rooms were not very large, but we did have a king size bed, which was more important to us.
