Hi travelers,

Well... Title says it all i guess.

I'll Start with location. Its an small quiet street "near" everywhere, 10 mins by calm walking and you are in one of the many tourist routes. Come on you are in Rome, every corner is a museum dont hesitate when walking time comes!

The room was big enought and had an small terrace with no particular interesting views, just a normal building at the other side of a quiet street. i was lucky and even i went on february the weather was nice and during the hotest hours of the day the terrace was a nice place to be. Perfect place to have breakfast/dinner during spring/summer.

The bathroom was comfortable and full of amenities (particulary a sewing kit that has save my life a few times..) but quite small and i missed a bath tube.

The bed was very comfortable and it was full of several kind of pillows. The bed sheets were slightly rough as usually happens at those places where linen is changed everyday.

The staff was quite nice and polite, something unusuall when you are on your early twenty's and you go to luxury hotels. I'm not joking. I like to be well dressed and im quite proud of my manners but still i dont feel i get the treatment of a "mature" guest.

I found the minibar particulary expensive. The prices are simililar to the ones you would find in a night club. The room service prices were a bit over the average in other luxury hotels.

Overall view: L U X U R Y. 4 Nights+ 2 botles of wine = 1300€.

Does it worth it? Depends on your economy i guess...

P.D. There is a small wine and cheese cellar in an alley arround... Traditional and quality goods. Dont expect nothing fancy. Its small but cofortable. Nice place to have a chat and drink a botle of wine.

As a frequent visitor to Rome, who has stayed in many of the best Roman hotels, I can highly recommend this hotel. I decided to stay at the St. George for the first time in January. From my first contact with the staff by e-mail two months before my stay, up until check out, they were all professional and helpful. The front desk answered all my questions and concerns. The breakfast and dining room staff were pleasant. My room was extremely comfortable and quiet. I felt that I received good value for the price.

We booked a three night stay through the hotel website which had a nice discount, so we ended up paying what I think the appropriate rate for this hotel.

Pros:
great location and great area, one of the best in Rome. Nicely done in a minimal style décor. Good service, room clean, luxurious duvet covers. Staff nice and helpful. Very good breakfast, nicely appointed tables with linen tablecloth and napkins.

Cons:
Everything is small: the reception, the room, the bathroom, the Spa area, not what you would expect from a deluxe five star hotel. Free WiFi in the lobby but on payment in the room.

I've read previous reviewers complaining about noise from road: noise doesn't come form outside but from the inside! Paper thin bathroom walls so you hear everything: water flushing, shower running, people sneezing, quite annoying!

Turn down service, is just a change of towels and every evening a brand new doorknob hanger on bed. I have got a whole collection! No weather forecast, no little chocolate, no bottle of water!
Sad.
Appliances in the bathroom a little 'loose', although it is a new hotel; the feeling is that it was done on a 'save every penny' project.

We went up to the roof terrace to have a view but it was locked up and from all the rubbish strewn around it looked like it is undergoing major repairs work.

No real concierge service: we asked for tickets to some of the exhibitions but they couldn't provide any.

We had dinner in the hotel restaurant on our last night there: a lot of nice choreography but little else to remember.

All in all it was a good stay, provided you get a nice rate, not worth the regular price.

We stayed in the St. George for three nights over Christmas. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and this set the tone for the whole of our stay.
The hotel itself is very tastefully restored and the design is stunning. The rooms are large and very well appointed.
Breakfast was good but we didn't eat dinner in the hotel as we had already made reservations at other resturants but the menu looked very good.
We will definitely stay at the St. George next time we visit Roma because apart from the fabulous design, the staff have a genuine warmth about them that can sometimes be lacking in 5 star hotels.

I've recently returned from a two night stay in Rome at the St George. The staff at the hotel, from the maid to the manager, were all very friendly and efficient. We had a number of alterations to make to our itinerary and rather than us wasting time doing it ourselves, the staff took it off our hands and re-arranged everything. You would expect efficiency in a 5 star but you can be greeted with stuffiness in some places - not here though. The daily, warm greetings were genuine. Being smaller than some of the major chain 5 stars, personal service seemed better. We also received a room upgrade, and on the second night a complimentary bottle of wine was left in our room (unprompted) as we'd mentioned it was my wife's birthday.

Thank you St George!
