We wanted to stay somewhere near the Via Condotti (the Rome equivalent to NYC's 5th Ave or London's, Bond St.) at the beginning of our vacation, so that we could do some shopping before driving to Umbria. The idea was to find a small convenient location for the first day and then spoil ourselves and stay at the InterContinental on the way back.
While searching for a place near the Pizza di Spagna I came accross this little gem. The location of the Condotti Palace is absolutely unbeatable mere steps from the via Condotti and the Pz di Spagna.
The hotel itself is very pleasant the rooms are a nice size and the bed is spacious and comfortable, the bathroom features a shower as opposed to the ubiquitous bathtubs found in most hotels, but who cares. The TV in the room was a nice size and featured many channels including BBC, NHK, French TV24 albeit not CNN.
Our room the first night even had a small patio that we used to eat breakfast on the second and third nights we stayed on the third floor and had a balcony instead.
Surrounding the hotel you have a few restaurants/snack bars that serve slices of pizza until late evening as well as a fabulous ice cream shop that also stays open late.
We were so enamoured by this hotel including the value that we completely scrapped the idea of staying at the InterContinental on the way back and rebooked the Condotti Palace, and to my surprise booking the return directly with the hotel saved us another 30% over the initial booking through http://Hotels.com
In my opinion this is the best value for money and best location regardless of cost in this area.
