We were a little concerned when we located Hotel Chicago near the train station in Rome. Not the best area, but we felt a little better after walking the area. Hotel was small with rooms that were all modern and small. No lift, but we were on second floor and desk clerk helped us upstairs with our luggage. When we booked on Venere.com, the website said that the hotel had air conditioning. Yes it does, but for 10 more euro/day!! We were never told that when we made the reservation. And a very warm time of the year, so we had to pay for the air conditioning. Very noisy in the halls - people coming and going. Breakfast was not a lot of choices. The people were very nice and friendly, but I would not stay there again and would not recommend this hotel.
