My partner and I just spent 3 days in Rome and this hotel was perfect for a base when sightseeing. It is within walking distance of Termini station, and of all major sights. The staff were all extremely friendly and the room was clean too. We found the biggest bonus was the free internet offered. The breakfast was basic but you get what you pay for.

This is a good lower-end-of-the-budget stay in central Rome. Our room was clean and a good size and the staff were helpful and friendly. All the main sights are a walkable distance from the hotel. Only slight downer was the breakfast, which was very 'basic', but then you can't really expect a huge buffet for the price!

Stayed at this hotel for 4 nights. Booked a twin room for 80 euro a night (internet deal), and got a 4 person room. The hotel is well situated between Romes central station Termini (walking distance, 10 min) and Piazza Venezia down-town, with bus stops close by.
Very friendly and helpful staff, who offered advice on buses and sights. There is also free internet in the reception area. The breakfast is simple but ok, and they also offer breakfast served in your room without any extra cost.
The room was quite big, as we got a 4 person room, and clean. The bathroom is quite small, especially the shower is reeeally small :), but that is normal in these hotels. No a/c, but a fan on the floor.
If you're looking for a cheap hotel down-town, Soggiorno is a good bargain if you find a good internet deal.

We were a large group of friends and family traveling together so we occupied 4 rooms on 2 different floors. Once we climbed (or rode elevator) to the reception floor (i think 4th) we were greeted by a very friendly and helpful lady. The lobby was nice with room to sit and watch tv. Then, it went downhill from there. The rooms were not nice. The bathrooms were not maintained well and broken fans were supplied for the lack of air, which kicked up alot of dust in the room. This was evidenced by chronic coughing from most in our party. Sleeping with the windows open was not an option because of the nighttime "noises". I realize that is not the hotel's fault but w/o air conditioning, you are kind of limited on how to make yourself comfortable during the hot months. The bathrooms' toilets flush so loudly that we made the decision not to flush on our early morning departure because they would surely wake the guests in the next room. All 13 people in our party were in agreement that we would look elsewhere next time in Rome.

  • Liked — the reception area
  • Disliked — the rooms

We stayed for 1 night in mid-September 2007 and had a very good experience at Soggiorno Europa. The reception desk was extemely helpful and very, very friendly.

The room was spacious and very nice for the relatively good price. It was a bit of a walk to the main sights... but if you are healthy and able, it's a very pleasant walk. Probably not for the injured or elderly though!

  • Liked — Front desk, ease of experience.
  • Disliked — Longer walk to main attractions.
