The room was quite big and clean with efficient air conditioned, nice also the swimming pool (free entrance asking the ticket at the reception, but 3€ needed for hiring the one of the beds by the pool).
The only problem is the distance from the city center. Trains in the near-by station (20m) are not so frequent (about every 40 minutes) and so is the bus service (about every 30 minutes). In both cases you have to change as these don't go directly to the historical center of the city and the service stops around midnight.

We are a young couple in our 50's, and stayed at the Mallia for 4 nights. The hotel is efficently and professionally run. We had a 2 room suite with lovely furnishings. The place was very clean and the housekeeping above average. The staff is polite and helpful. We enjoyed the decor of the breakfast room and the breakfast itself. It was a buffet breakfast - as much as you want of everything. Included: coffee and juice ,appetizing pasties and doughnuts, salamis, cheese, yoghurt, fruit salad, cereals, toast and more.
The pool is very big, but also used by the Mallia Health Club. Therefore although we enjoyed the pool, it was quite crowded. The hotel is right next to the train station, which is very convenient.

  • Liked — Spacious, clean, aesthetic
  • Disliked — small television

The review before this one is very accurate.

I stay in 15+ hotels per year every year and have never felt the need to write a negative review. This is not the case with this hotel.

The hotel staff (all 4 that I saw) were either English speaking and rude or non English speaking and rude (pretty important to speak the same language when trying to resolve problems).

Breakfast was a complete and utter joke - had better ones in Youth Hostels.

Facilities and whole hotel a big let down.

Arrived Sat eve and because of hotel location and public holiday had to drink water only until Tuesday morning when shops opened!!! A simple drinks machine in the hotel would have been nice!

The price of this hotel was perfect for the length of stay. We wanted to stay closer to the inner area of Rome. On the other hand, on arrival the hotel staffman was quite standoffish and rude. During the night another staff person was asleep on the job. The security of this hotel is questionable bc of the sleeping staff, the locks on the doors are very thin. The lock to the balcony door would not lock at all.

We stayed on the fifth floor and had a steep narrow stairway to climb after opening our suite door. Once upstairs in a loft type setting, the size served us well. Even after being to Paris and throughout France, the shower is for short people (smaller than we experienced even in Paris which is well known for the small spaces), my bf is 5 foot 11 and could not stand in the shower or near the bathroom sink. There was lots of room though in the suite for luggage. All in all, I would stay here for maybe one night if need be but i'd rather pay the extra cash to stay elsewhere.

It cost us about 15€ to take a cab one way to the Pantheon. We payed 9€ for 24 hours of parking in their unsecured underground parking at the hotel. Adding up the costs, it would have been more convienent to stay closer in a better place with better service. The hotel pictures are very far from what it actually looks like inside. The hotel staff stated they didn't know how to get to the metro or bus even though their website advertises it is close to metro. In addition, it costs 1€ for 20 minutes of internet that u must use right away.

Will add pics soon.

I have been often to this apartment hotel. It is located in a rather nice residential district (40 minutes by foot, downhill, to the Piazza St Peter).

The pros: 1) Just next to La Balduina train station, linked to the metro; 2) The various apartments are spacious and comfortable and there is a choice of sizes; 3) The staff is friendly and speak English; 4) there are three supermarkets within 5 minute walk; 5) There is an indoor swimming pool and underground garage.

The cons: 1) Being in a residencial district, there are few restaurants around the Mallia, if you don't want to prepare your food.
2) In the past, several foreign television stations were offered: CNN, BBCworld, TV5, TVE. As of January 2007 none are available.
