The only thing good about this hotel is the location. Close to everything ... Spanish Steps just at the end of the street and Trevi Fountain, Pantheon etc just a 5-10 minute walk. Room very small and basic. Shower tiny. Elevator tiny. I can live with that but I had trouble with Housekeeping leaving the keys to all the rooms in the hallway unattended. We brought it to the attention of the attendant at the reception desk and he said he didn't know where we came from, but they don't worry about these things in Italy.
Be careful with your belongings in this hotel. They say they have high speed internet - they don't. They say your room has a mini bar - it doesn't. No safe in room.

The entrance to the hotel doesn't look very nice and you have to go up the stairs or take a very strange little elevator to go to your room, but the room we stayed in was just lovely. It was a double room, very clean and new. A large bathroom, and even a private balcony. The location is also perfect for sightseeing as you can walk anywhere.
The breakfast could have been better. Since there is no breakfastroom, it is brought up to your room and this means you are limited in choosing what you eat, and especially how much you eat. Our appitites were decidedly bigger than the breakfast brought up to us. Still, it's a very relaxing way to start your day having breakfast in bed.
The staff was very friendly and provided us with maps and other information about the city.
This hotel was at or over the top end of our budget, but a great stay if you're going to spend a little more.

We just returned from a week long stay at the Doge in Rome. It was terrific. The staff was super friendly and extremely helpful. Our room and bath were very very clean and fresh sheets/towels/soaps/shampoos/ were always provided. The delightful breakfast was delivered everyday by a cheerful person. There is some remodeling in the hallways and what looked like some future dining areas – none of which bothered us in any way. The location is great for everything you want to see. Wonderful gelato store two doors down! The only thing we missed was a wireless connection – but there is an internet cafe a block away.

I must say first of all that I had to stay in Doge.
My wife joined a group of Italian learning students from Greece,
(including the teachers,an Italian from Bologna and his Greek
girlfriend). As a group, they managed to get good prices in their
destinations(Venezia,Firenze and finally Rome-doge hotel).
The plan was to join them in Rome. The result was to stay in a
double room during the high season of the hotel and give 140!!
euros(normal internet price for the excact period was 180!!!,but
we had that reduction as almost part of the group.

What i want to say is that i wouldn't book that hotel as an individual. From what i realised, searching on the internet,in Rome you pay first of all the location.
Doge is (self)called a three star hotel.I tried very hard to find some of those in our room,in the coridors,in the breakfast room.
Consider that for 4 days we had the same towels!!!
Going there I had the feeling that we are giving a lot of money,
staying there I realised that we were giving a lot of money for
a ...hostel.
If you can get a good price through a travel operation doge is in
a very convinient position.
But if you only can book it via internet don't think of it

1- Hotel reception desk is not as pictures show it. It is on ground floor and does not look anything like that.
2- Entrance gate has broken glass to which you need to stick your hand through, yes through, to unlock the gate.
3- The amount of exposed wiring in the building is unbeliveable as well as a major fire hazard.
4-There is NOT a single smoke detector ANYWHERE.
5- There is no iron/board, laundrey service.
I could get by all the negatives, except the fire hazards, for which I will not return to that hotel this summer. It truly is a shame, as the staff is friendly and the rooms are clean and it has a great location. The FDNY would close the place PRONTO !
