1- Hotel reception desk is not as pictures show it. It is on ground floor and does not look anything like that.
2- Entrance gate has broken glass to which you need to stick your hand through, yes through, to unlock the gate.
3- The amount of exposed wiring in the building is unbeliveable as well as a major fire hazard.
4-There is NOT a single smoke detector ANYWHERE.
5- There is no iron/board, laundrey service.
I could get by all the negatives, except the fire hazards, for which I will not return to that hotel this summer. It truly is a shame, as the staff is friendly and the rooms are clean and it has a great location. The FDNY would close the place PRONTO !

This hotel was basic, corridors shabby, but the rooms clean and very comfortable beds. Reception staff were very helpful. Breakfast was basic continental, delivered to your room.

The hotel is central - near to the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps. If you want somewhere just to put your head down, this is it.

  • Liked — location - was main consideration as knew wouldnt be spending much time in room.
  • Disliked — corridors very shabby.

We have just returned from a week at the Hotel Doge. It is not one of the best hotels we've seen in Italy -- the walls of the room were dirty, the A/C released water into a plastic bottle multiple times in the middle of the night. You can not open the window because there is building opposite and the street is veery noisy. The entry to the hotel is just disgusting. Can't they fix their old pinboards at the entry? Lift.....hmm if you can call it lift. It is smelly little box half way between first and second floor. So if you have a room at the first floor don't bother. Bathroom- I had a problem to squise between the sink and the wall. If you are over 90kg you might find that you will not be able to use the shower. TV is very old and the bed is cover with oversize matterace so during the night you feel that you can slide. But looks big.

Overall we going back to Rome on our way back but found another hotel in the nearby area (same price but much better)

  • Liked — No much
  • Disliked — Diffcult to get to the shower. No utensills in the room (not even a glass) take your own nife and fork

Just came back from a 3 night stay at this hotel. If you are looking for
location, then this is the best place to stay. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful.Same cant be said for the breakfast serving lady who was very grumpy but that was just a minor inconvenience. You can walk to all the major tourist attractions from this hotel. The metro is 5 minutes walk away and also plenty of places to eat around the area.If you are looking for a plush hotel then this is not the place to stay. But if you are looking for
fantastic location and a place to rest your head at night, then this is highly recommended.

  • Liked — location and friendly reception staff
  • Disliked — rooms could do with a fresh lick of paint

I've booked this hotel a few days ago (after reading multiple reviews on this site) and stayed there for a night with my family. It is one of the worst hotels we've seen in Italy -- the walls of the room were dirty, the A/C released water in a plastic barrel multiple times in the middle of the night and there was mold in the bathroom. Despite the fact that we're in the middle of a hot summer, the hotel could not sell us a bottle of water (they 'ran out of stock a few days ago'). If you want to enjoy Rome and always remember its charm, please do not stay at this place. I'm not sure who's reviewing it and giving it high grades...My advice: Don't stay there. It's not worth it!!!

  • Liked — Close to Spanish steps...in a noisy area.
  • Disliked — It's dirty and poorly managed.
