The 'office' is in the laundromat downstairs. The rooms are upstairs. Three bedrooms, 8 people, sharing one bath was tough in the morning. Set up like a small apartment with a kitchen in the front and 3 bedrooms behind. Possible to cook, but your in Rome so eat out.

I felt like the neighborhood around the hostel was safe and friendly. Other directions from the termini were not as inviting.

Easy to recommend.

My wife and I booked a double en suite and we are very happy with our choice! It is a five minute walk to Rome Termini. For 10 euros they'll do two loads of laundry for you. We got a free bottle of wine when we showed up. Payment was due in advance. Security of the building we stayed in was TOP NOTCH. The room was beautiful and in a beautiful, secure building. I would certainly stay there again.
Americans be warned, though. Air conditioning in Europe is rare. You must learn to sleep with the windows open and deal with street noise. A/C might be out of order, "off until June," or not there at all. You just have to get used to it. I would try it at home first to help get used to it.
Laundromat/Internet cafe on ground floor.

i had a great stay at the Funny palace. i couldn't have asked for more - location just next to the central station, sights and shopping, nice and clean room and the greatest service ever.

The shower (there was only one for about 12-16 people) BARELY worked... it sprinkled, if that... and it was only one bathroom.... now a lot of the hostels in rome are appartments turned hostels, but these people didnt make much of an effort. it looks and feels like its not meant to be a hostel. I personally prefer hostels which are structured in a way which encourages you to meet other backpackers (i.e meals- central area, sofa etc) The "free internet" isnt just for the hostel.. the computers are in the laundromat where the hostel is run from... so it seems a bit disorganized. a free breakfast ticket is given to you for the next morning which is nice but you have to go find the cafe that you get it from (again... i prefer the hostel feeling.. where breakfast is offered in the common room..)
the beds are nice and comfortable. the rooms are very clean ( i stayed in the dorm) the dorm rooms are only four beds to a room. the hostel is well priced

extremely cool staff! have hardly ever experienced such helpful people working in a hostel! the location is good - really close to the main train statioin from where you can reach most of the main-attractions. the rooms and the bathroom are clean, and the whole hostel is really quiete. so when in rome.... stay at funny palace...
