A girlfriend and I stayed at the Canova Tadolini for 1 week in August. Nori, the office manager, was extremely helpful and gave us advise on a daily basis as to places to visit. She managed all of our pick ups for daily planned tours. And gave us some colorful insights to how the Romans lived.
The room itself was small by American hotel standards, but this added to the charm and emphasized the differences-which is one of the reasons to travel to a different country. The housekeeping was impeccable and they seemed to go that extra step each day.
We loved the location of the hotel and did most of our non-tour activity by foot.
We relaxed at the outdoor cafes in the Piazza de Popolo nightly which was a 4 minute walk to the hotel.

Excellent Location, very close to Metro Station and easy walking distance to most sights.
Bathroom was really small, especially bathing area. Room size was pretty decent. They serve breakfast in your room - you fill up a form the day before with the time you want breakfast delivered. Very puntual..the croissants were yummy :)
There is a lift, but it's quite rickety and small. Need to mention that our flight arrived 6am (as do most flights from Asia) and they gave us the room in the morning for extra €50 (confirm on phone directly with hotel before you go). Otherwise check-in is at 2pm!
Service was good, after reading some reviews of Rome hotels, we were expecting the worst. Staff spoke english and they were quite friendly. We were also able to leave our bags in the hotel after check-out on the last day as we had a late train out of Rome.
Have fun..hope this was helpful. Ciao!

This hotel is set in a great location, just a minute from the Spanish steps on one of the best roads for designer shops in Rome. From the outside you would not even notice it and I was reticent about what it would be like inside as it looks like a normal office/residential block. However once inside it is like a different place altogether.
Beautiful decor quite quirky...oil paintings on the walls etc, friendly and very helpful staff (which is quite rare for Rome in most other places the staff are pretty rude!)
There is not bar or restaurant, but who wants to eat hotel food when you are surrounded by fantastic food and great pavement cafes. The staff will recommend decent restaurants too, so its worth listening to their local knowledge to avoid the tourist traps elsewhere.
Breakfast is continental and served to your room. The rooms are kept very clean and for the price it is excellent value.

My wife and i stayed in room 304 for 4 nights. The hotel is not like most as you don't have long carpeted corridoors and is set almost like an apartment block. Just like the previous review mentioned, there is no bar or restaurant but that was not a problem for us.
The room was large, high ceilings and nicely decorated, our double bed was two singles pushed together which we did not notice until after the first night - again that was not a problem. The bathroom was a decent size, although we felt the shower was a bit small. The housekeepers did a great job in keeping the room clean, there was hardly any dust.
Breakfast was continental, consisting of an option of tea, coffee, juice (i don't believe they had orange juice). crossaints, biscuits, and toast (the dry type).

There are plenty of restaurants and coffee shops next to the hotel and there's a supermarket just 10mins away. The Spanish Steps is just a 3 min walk up the road. We were able to walk everywhere (make sure you wear good shoes if you do decide to walk), the colosseum is about 20mins walking distance.

Rome is a beautiful city. We had no problems finding our way around and did not encouter any problems with pickpockets or beggers and we felt very safe walking around at night.
