Retrome...
The good - location (termini in literal steps) funky interior, fridge, benji & moti and their sincere willingness to help and knowledge of the area, limoncino shots, breakfast credits at the coffee shop down the road (italian coffee.... mmmm)
The ok - first night in another hotel due to technical difficulties with retrome but the fact we had to checkin in-out-in twice in 12 hours restricted what we could do with our time.
The bad - no reception (´the reception is not here - greets the sign on the door) you have to ring moti or benji if you dont arrive exactly when you say you will (in an advance email).
The ugly - shared bathroom. The facts: toilet and shower were in the same room. up to eight people in apartment. Editorialising: Between eight people its always going to be a problem but even when we tried to ameliorate the problem by showering in the evening you still have to take your morning ablutions and get in line. I wish there was a better way

We stay in this hostel 2 nights, but booked 4 nights. When we arrived, young man said, that their hostel is full, but he found as another accomodation for 2 nights. Last 2 nights we spent in Retrome and it was nice to see retro styl, but... Other visitors were very noisy and everithing was to hear. The doors between other rooms are thin. One bathroom with toilet is too little for 8 people. The toillet and shower was dirty. But owner of this hostel was nice and he helped as with tours in Rome. And the price was not so low. But it doesnt matter, Rome is very nice place to stay. Maybe next time in other hostel.

My stay at the Retrome is a highlight of months spent travelling through europe. I instantly felt comfortable and at home amongst the vintage furniture and retro styling of the this cool apartment style hostel. The design is original and inspired - the more you look the more you see. The owners are friendly, relaxed and extremely helpful... Ask Benji to show you his magic tricks! If you're visiting Rome alone, with friends are as a couple the Retrome is the place for you.

Arrived at the Retrome by chance and ended up extending our stay in Rome. The retrome is the cool pad you always wished you had. The vintage design and random mix of authentic retro pieces and styling was a collaborative effort of local young artists and each room is a new experience. We were able to try a few of them out and concluded that the orange spiral room is cool if you're travelling with a group, the mirror room is definately designed for couples looking to see things from a new perspective and the funky bamboo bunk room is perfect for pairs and solo travellers.
there's a chilled, relaxed vibe and the owners are friendly, always helpful and in the know about what's happening around town. The location is right next to the main train station and everything you need to see is within walking distance or a short metro ride away. Without hesitation we would say the Retrome is the best value for money in Rome and you'll get some great pics too.
