“Very average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2012

I read a lot of fabulous reviews on trip advisor and booked the Sistine b&b but our stay was just about average. The place is good value for money given that we were travelling in the peak season. However, the air conditioner doesn't work well at all and the room was really hot. I didn't sleep very comfortably as a result.

The location is decent enough and is around 15-20 minutes walk from the Vatican. However, if you are out late (after 1130pm because that's when the metro shuts on most days) you will need to take a cab (10 euros from piaza navona). The breakfast is nice enough and it helps that you are served in your room.

I won't be going back again because when compared to our B&B in Rome.. this left a lot to be desired.

I'm sorry that this guest didn't feel well. it is important not to change the setting of the air condition, that was made new in april 2012 and it works perfectly. the location is "Prati", one of the most beautifull, comfortable, and most desirable for all roman inhabitans, the best Sistine is located in an ancient building 1890, completely renewed 2 years ago, with red carpet at the entrance. To descrbe this location as "decent enough" is not correct. the metroo stops at 12 pm, and it is substitute from buses that make the same way all the night. it seems that these guests have a bb in Rome (compared with our bb in Rome...) so, maybe they have a good reason to write bad rewies. I remember to all our guest that me and my staff are always present to help and solve all kind of problems. a good day to everybody,
francesca

It is all you could expect , the rooms are very nice , traveling solo , they are very comfortable and more than enough for two people . If travelling in a group you could book the entire place , though there is no common area to meet other guests , the wireless Internet connection no problem. In June I found the air conditioning unnecessary but it worked well and the windows are well insulated. Irene in the morning , is always the smiling presence and cannot do enough to make your stay enjoyable. The breakfast are substantial enough and of great quality . Irene takes great comfort in her hospitality . As to the nearby Prati - it has everything , downstairs in the cafe and next door the deli for groceries , they make great panini . The Vatican museum , a must is a short walk , as is the fortress of San Angelo , well worth the visit to the papal apartments, and its market stalls. Piazza Popolo , P. Novana again an easy walk . There are many high end fashion shop nearby as well as street sellers . The Prati is not inner Roma living , the urban space is more European in its grid pattern . All together a beautiful three days

Stayed at Sistine B and B for 4 days in Rome. Excellent location within walking distances of most attractions. Small B and B with only 4 rooms. Room and bathroom very clean and size good. At night very quiet for city location! Manager Irene serves a good breakfast to your room and is very helpful. Local shop under B and B at street level was fun place to pick up bread and wine. WiFi worked very well in rooms. Cost very reasonable for Rome and would recommend.
Visit Plaza Navaronne for dinner....lots of excellent chioces in a beautiful open square and 20 min walk from hotel.

Location was great about 15 min walk from the Vatican. There are only 3 rooms. Ours was clean and comfortable. Our breakfast was brought to our room by Irene who was charming and helpful.

We visited Rome during Holy Week in April 2012. This place proved to be an excellent choice and was about 15 mins walk to St. Peter's Square and the Vatican Museum.

An easy journey from FCO airport on the SIT bus shuttle to Piazza Cavour and a 15 min walk to the B&B. Francesca turned up on the back of a scooter and showed us into the B&B. The room was very clean and the lift up to the 2nd floor was a bonus!

The breakfast trolley wheeled in the morning by Emma was laden with food and we had plenty left over to take with us for a picnic later in the day.

In the street next door was a shop that you could buy rolls and cheese etc. Razors could also be purchased.

The Metro was nearby and an easy trip to the Colluseum was only 1 euro!

The only slight critisism was the street noise with beeping horns and revving engines at all hours but this is to be expected.

We will come again.

Room Tip: The noise off the street was the only factor you have no control over. Wear ear plugs!

This is a late review!! I stayed here on JANUARY 2009! Arrived at night, so it took me a while to find the right street but the italians are a friendly lot and I was guided with some english and italian. Once there, i rang the bell and was directed to the designated floor. i was greeted by a lovely lady. The room (no2) was quaint with a comfortable bed, a large bathroom with strong water pressure. For us, breakfast was our highlight! As there was so much to choose from! Eggs, cheese, ham, croissant, biscotti, jams, butter, milk, juice etc We truly enjoyed ourselves. Not only that, downstairs you have a cafe, mini marts around, metro just few minutes away so getting to the main attractions was a breeze. They also gave a discount on our last day as we paid it cash. Sweet! I personally loved my stay!! and Rome of course : )

We found the B & B very easily, but there was no-one there to meet us. However, we rang the number on the doorbell & a man was there in 10 minutes. Irene was on duty each morning & was very friendly. She brought our fantastic breakfast trolly at the time requested, & you would have to be very hungry to eat everything provided. I can recommend the scrambled eggs with italian bacon, Scrummy. We were in room 1, on the corner, & the room had windows on two streets. It was very spacious, with a lovely high ceiling. The bathroom was quite large for one in an Italian hotel but could do with a bit of a refresh as too many things were held in place by bits of card or paper. All in all this is a good place to stay as its close to all kinds of public transport, is clean, bright, friendly & you get a fantastic breakfast. The area is great as there are lots of neighbourhood shops & restaurants etc.

Room Tip: Room 1 is the corner room, so has windows on two walls.
