The room we had was huge especially by European standards and it really had too much luxury. We only needed a room for one night before we left Rome the next day. It was difficult to get a room for one night hence I reluctantly reserved at a price that was higher than I wanted it cost195 euro/nt. I guess by the luxury scale it was worthy of that price as far as the room was concerned. However they only had wifi so if you didn't bring your computer with you, you were out of luck. The area of Trastevere is not as nice as the area we stayed in at the beginning of our trip 2 weeks earlier near Santa Maria area. Relais Le Clarisse is in a busy busy area with shopping nearby but really a busy noisy area. The b&b had luxurious rooms and a great breakfast and beautiful courtyard however I prefer the nicer area near
Santa Maria in a simpler but beautiful B&B called Arco Del Lauro.

Looks can be deceiving from the street. A nice courtyard with good sized rooms, clean bathrooms and quiet. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the hotel is in a good location. Great value in August although more expensive in other months.

We stayed in a jr suite and it was large, airy, clean and well laid out. We were on the ground floor with lots of windows. No view to speak of - just the inner courtyard which was fine. Very quiet at night. The bathroom was really large, well lit and beautiful with both a shower and jacuzzi. Lots of hot water. No problem accessing internet. The cold breakfast was a notch or 2 above standard with boiled eggs, good quality breads and breakfast pies, fresh sliced melon and other fruits, great coffee, etc. The breakfast tables were set up inside but you might be able to eat in the inner courtyard - which had tables and chairs and was very nice. The staff at the desk were pleasant and helpful. We liked everything about this hotel including the reasonable price.

Although interesting, Trastevere was not our favourite location in Rome. We would recommend the Piazza Navonna area as it is more central and exciting. We stayed here on our last night before flying out of Rome because Trastevere is a little closer to the airport than Piazza Navonna.

My husband and I picked this hotel, based on a feature on NBC's Today show. It turned out to be the best choice for us. Small with only 5-6 rooms, and very quiet. Rooms are large and comfortable and staff was friendly. Bathroom shower is huge. The neighborhood of Trastavere has many restaurants and lots of night life, and not as many tourists, so gives you a great idea of real Roman life. Within walking distance (across the river) of most attractions, but we took the bus most of the time which was efficient and easy to use.

  • Liked — Location in Trastavere
  • Disliked — Breakfast - not great

Relais Le Clarisse was a fabulous, emaculately clean, cozy, welcoming, friendly place to stay! I traveled with 8 other women for a cooking class in Tuscany, and we stayed at the Relais for our first two nights in Rome. I could not have asked for a better place! The staff could not have been more helpful, especially Maurizio, who took such good care of us. He picked us up from the airport, and took us back to the airport at the end of our two weeks, even though we did not stay at the Relais upon our return to Rome for our last night (BIG mistake!). Maurizio even picked us up in the middle of the city one day when our tour had ended and due to complications, we were going to have to take a cab back. He came to our rescue instead. You could not meet a more caring, honest, kind soul than Maurizio! I would highly recommend staying at the Clarisse! Many of the women in our group, upon returning to Rome for our flights home, changed their previous plans and booked a room there for the last night. I wish we had been able to do the same. As for the location, it was perfect as far as we were concerned. It was authentic, and did not have the hordes of tourists blocking the streets. It was an easy walk across the river, to many popular attractions. Rome is so enormous that no matter where you stay, you will not be close to everything! Relais La Clarisse was the place for us! I highly recommend it!
