I was so disappointed with this hotel, in fact it was the worst we stayed in during our 5 week ( 9 accommodations) holiday. Looking back at the website I can see how the pictures are made to make it look so good but it is so different once you get there.
I booked and paid almost 6 months in advance and somehow still didn't manage to get a room with any of the wonderful things they boast about on the website.
Our room was at the back of the hotel over looking a whole lot of other back walls around a dingy quadrangle . So not only did we miss out on a view of the opera house, we also didn't manage to get a Turkish bath, jacuzzi tub ,mini bar, sauna, courtesy kit, memory foam mattress ( and NO , the beds are not exceptionally long, just a normal queen size bed) or a sound proof room. The noise from the locals out the back was anything but quiet, especially during the dance class or whatever it was.
The man from reception did tell me that they only have about two rooms with a Turkish bath so I cannot begin to imagine how far in advance you have to book to actually manage to get one of them.
The Internet was an absolute joke. It took 20 minutes to download a page then would cut out. Every time you want to use it we had sign in all over again. We gave up in absolute frustration.
The toilet seat was broken and kept moving around. I asked if they could get it fixed and after the second day and second request the man from the booking desk came with a tool and tried to do something but certainly don't fix it.
The drain cover in the shower was broken off and floated around the bottom of the shower the whole time and there was no way to plug the bathroom basin. The shower area was one of the smallest I have come across even though the bathroom want particularly small.
If you want a DVD it's best to get it in the morning because even though they say 24 hour reception, we went down at 6pm one night and the reception was locked and vacant. There is a small room near the reception area signed Porter. When we tried to speak to the man in there about the reception being locked, he indicated that he didn't speak English and then ignored us and laughed with his companion. Unless they have someone arriving in the evening there is no one around after about 5.30pm from what I was to understand.
We had to ask for a remote control for the DVD player as there wasn't one in the room when we arrived.
If you happened to forgot your key when you go out there is no way you could get into the property at night time as they have huge wooded doors to go through from the street and they are locked early in the evening.
We were traveling with our teenage son who slept on the sofa which didn't even have a proper mattress on it, just the two sofa cushions which parted slightly during the night forming a ridge across the middle of the bed.
Fortunately our room was clean which is more than could be said for the stairwell/elevator area. The dirt/ fluff on the elevator cage was about 2 cm thick in certain areas and the stairs were black in places with dirt. I don't think they had ever been cleaned.
Once you get out of the elevator there's about 4 doors , each leading into another small hallway with about 4 rooms leading of it.This was where the coffer corner was. For milk they had a can of spray foam cream which was always left on the bench rather than in a fridge. It tasted disgusting. I asked for some fresh milk and was told there wasn't any as they would have to buy some everyday for that to happen. There was a tiny fridge there but it wasn't even turned on. When we left our room we had to walk about 7 feet in complete darkness around the coffee corner before the sensor light activated.
They say its the perfect place for a romantic weekend, this would be the last place on earth I would go for that.
The gentleman that booked us in was very helpful and friendly. Not all was a complete loss.
All I ask for in a hotel is a room with things that work properly and amenities stated as being there , actually are there. This place was such a let down and I would never recommend it to anyone. So many better and cheaper places than here. Stay away.
