Sorry to hear that the previous review had such a hard time but faced no such problems with the Osimar. It was a few minutes walk form the tube but the neighbourhood was pleasant and the staff were really freindly and helpfull. Being just out of the centre it is more tranquil and as the rooms are all new they were in pretty good condition and comfortable. The breakfast was more than adequate and would stay again at the Osimar simply because of the excellent rates on offer. Public transport is cheap and pretty efficient so seeing the city was no problem from this place.

We had booked at the Hotel Osimar back in August for a trip in November. After spending €60 to get there from the Airport, we were promptly told that they had some sort of "problem with water" on the first floor and they had transferred us to a different hotel. They called a cab and paid for the trip to the next hotel. The only problem was that they didn't tell us what the other Hotel was called, and the cab driver didn't know where it was. After 30 minutes of driving around, he pulled over by the Radisson a block from the train station and dropped us off pointing vaguely in the direction of the Radisson. We check at the Radisson and they didn't have our reservations, but were kind enough to call the Osimar and get information on the hotel where we eventually stayed, it was two blocks away from the Radisson. The Hotel Mamiani is where we ended up which was a small, quiet, clean hotel where you can't drink the water out of the sink (they have signs posted). The Hotel Mamiani wasn't bad in general, but not what we had booked, nor what we paid for, the rate didn't change just because the hotel did. I recommend highly against the Hotel Osimar because of thier "dumping" policy.

p.s. - A Big "Grazie!" to the desk clerks at the Radisson for sorting this mess out for us.

  • Disliked — Dumped us at the train station without any information about where we were supposed to be transferred.

The room was overall decent and modern. Breakfast not great but ok. The major downside was that the hotel was quite far from the center. Although it says that it's just one station away from the Termini; you still need to walk to the tube station for about 15 minutes, and take the metro for about 5 stops to actually get to touristic attractions.
The other problem was that walls were very thin. I could hear the guy in the other room snoring at night. It felt we were all sleeping in the same room, which was very inconvenient.

A nice clean hotel. Staff were very friendly and breakfast was great.

A short walk from Bologna Metro station which is only 3 stops away from the centre of Rome.

The only downside is that the rooms are not very soundproof, you can hear most conversations from the room next door although this is typical of most hotels these days.

We stayed here for 4 nights in early January 2007. Got a very good deal on HRS and (despite there being no previous reviews on TripAdvisor) decided to give the Osimar Hotel a try.

Overall, this is a pretty good hotel - fine for anyone looking for good, basic, clean accommodation in Rome for a reasonable price.

The Hotel Osimar is fairly new (it opened apx 6 months before), and this shows in the quality and cleanliness of the rooms, etc. It is located somewhat outside of the city centre, just to the northeast of Termini Station (our cab driver had some trouble finding it initially). However, once we arrived the location was not a problem from then on. Although it is abit outside of the city centre and away from the main sights, the hotel is within easy walking distance (apx 10 minutes) of the Bologna Metro Station. Rome is so large that you will almost certainly have to make use of the city’s public transit system for sightseeing – so staying a short distance outside of the centre is not a big deal (and, as in this case, usually allows you to get a better hotel rate). We got a good deal (on HRS) and stayed for apx 65 euro / night.

The hotel was clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is nothing to get too excited about, but is a typical “continental” type offering.

The only complaint that we would note relates to noise. As is the case in other hotels we stayed in in the region - the combination of tile floors / thin coverings + seemingly very thin walls made it quite noisy. We stayed on the first floor – and were awoken on various occasions by conversations, footsteps, drawers / chairs sliding, and other movements in rooms on either side of and above ours. We are not usually “fussy” travelers or hotel guests – but this was a problem here. Alot probably depends on one’s neighbours – so it may help to request a top floor room with vacancies on either side, etc.

Despite this one issue, overall the Hotel Osimar met our needs - and strikes a good balance between price, location + amenities, etc.
