This was one of the cheaper options (but still above $100/night) we found in Rome for Easter weekend, but the location is pretty good - quiet and felt fairly safe despite the proximity to Roma Termini. Service is so-so - we were there for three days and 2 out of 3 times, they left only one towel for two people. The room, which was in a separate area from where reception is, was well-appointed, with high ceilings and a large window that opened up to the street below. The cafe across the street where you can claim your free breakfast served fabulous croissants and pastries. Overall it was a pleasant experience, but nothing to write home about - just your regular 3-star hotel.

The room was very basic and on the street - bad move! I had read on here that we should ask for a room away from the lobby. What people should have said was that you need a room that is not directly on the street, as dozens of people gathered under our window talking loudly all through the night, til about 6am - and we were in a completely different building to the lobby. I think it would suit young people who plan to be out partying all hours themselves or hardened travellers who are used to roughing it. I guess it is classed as a hostel, after all, which I hadn't realised when booking. It is not really within short walking distance of any of the major sights, but very handy for the metro and buses.

The IL Papavero is a lovely little hotel 10 min walk away from Roma Termini. It has rooms in two buildings and you would be better off taking rooms in the building which does not have the lobby as it is quieter. The room is very spacious and the upholstry is neat and regal. The room is actually one of several in an apartment complex but has a heater and a AC. But it really does not matter as you anyway end up spending most of your day exploring Rome. .You get a big bunch of keys to enter your room and that can become a bit cumbersome but you will get used to it. There are several dining options nearby and there is a supermarket 5 min away. The breakfast is at a small cafe across the street and is very basic inclusing only a coffee and crossiant. At the end of teh day, your stay at this hotel is value for money.

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights. The hotel was easy to find with the directions they provided on the hotel booking website. The room was as expected (clean, small, etc).

I was unfortunate to stay on the same floor as the hotel reception - there is always someone there, but because there is always someone there, I could hear them talking at all hours of the night. Due to that, I was not able to sleep soundly any of the nights.

However, generally I had a good experience - just make sure you ask for another floor if you do decide to stay there!
