We stayed here in May 2009--my 18 yr old son, my 20 yr old daughter, myself and my husband. We wanted somewhere near the train station, as we were only using public transportation. We walked to the Welrome from the train station (pulling our suitcases behind us!) with no problem. The directions on the website were great. It's kind of on an alley, and you have to ring the doorbell to get in. We saw Mary most of the time and she was very helpful and friendly. Strangely enough, they were not in Rick Steves (which I used for most of our trip and was not disappolnted--we were away 11 days: 3 days in Sorrento, 6 days in Orvieto in Umbria and 2 days in Rome) but it was a great place to stay. They had a nice quad room--the Spagna--it had a foyer, a wardrobe with a safe (very handy), and nice large bathroom and a large bedroom--one king bed and 2 twins. It also had a fridge, which came in handy. The "supermercato" is down the street and we promptly bought some drinks and snacks. Mary directed us each day in the best way to accomplish what we wanted to do. You had to always ring the doorbell to get in, but someone was always there. There is a restaurant right outside the hotel and of course, many all around. We walked everywhere-except for the Vatican City. She advised us of the bus to take and where to get the tickets, so we took a local bus to the Vatican and worked our way back by walking. We saw the Coliseum, the Roman Forum, the Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, the Vatican City (the only place we didn't go in), the Victor Emmanual monument, Castel Sant'Angelo, and the Pantheon in a day and a half! Then it was an easy train ride to the airport for our flight home. I also got on the internet across the street to check our flights the day before--costs 2 euros for an hour (less for less time). The hotel was spotless and we felt it was a great value and a great location, esp with Mary as your host!

Our 'booked' hotel denied all knowledge of us so luckily we looked across the road and there was the Welrome. A delightful hostess, full of knowledge and really helpful to us. The room was very large and clean and even had a fridge. We spend a fabulous few days there and would really recommend it. It was easy to walk into the centre of Rome and see all the sights.

Best host, Caring & convenient.
We decide to book Welrome hotel after reading the tripadvisor’s reviews. And we glad to make a right decision.

I want to thank the owners Mary and Carlo, they do everything to make you feel welcome in their hotel and in Rome. Mary will give my 7-year old daughter a chocolate/snack in the morning and introduce us the good breakfast at reasonable price. They also provide us the Rome map for free, and gave us very good advices and tips in how to see the city in every day. So, you can skip some research in visiting Rome if you stay in Welrome. The owners are excellent tourist guide. Here are the reasons I select Welrome and hope everyone can visit there to feel it.
Location: convenient. 8 minutes walk to Termini Station; good connection to Florence. 10 minutes walk to Subway, 8 minutes to bus station. 3 minutes walk to the supermarket.
Excellent services. It is the 5-star services. Super.
Room: with refrigerator and safer. Clean and comfortable.
Price: Resonable.
Welrome is the best host hotel I ever stay, and I would highly recommend it to all kinds of travelers.
We really appreciate Mary and Carlo’s advices and have a great time in staying there. And hope everything go well after the earthquake.

It’s true!

Every positive word that I read online or in Lonely Planet about the Welrome Hotel is accurate … correct … precise … spot on!

Based on these comments, I booked my accommodation at the Welrome Hotel for my Italian holiday in February 2009. I’m so thankful I did. From my perspective, the Welrome Hotel is a two-star hotel with five-star service!

The hotel owners, Mary and Carlo, helped to make my visit to Rome a memorable experience. They were attentive, caring and helpful. When I had questions about places to eat, historical sites to visit, or whatever, they always had an answer that ideally met my needs. They had answers before I even thought of the questions!

The most unexpected assistance from Mary and Carlo came within the first 12 hours of my arriving in Italy! I got to the Welrome Hotel close to midnight on a Saturday night and only had a few hours sleep before travelling to Pescara, about 150 kilometres east of Rome. Upon my arrival, Carlo provided me with the information I needed to get from Rome to Pescara. I was set. Well, lo and behold, if Mary and Carlo didn’t greet me early Sunday morning to tell me that Carlo would take me to Tiburtina station where I had to catch the train to Pescara (because I was a woman on my own who couldn’t speak Italian and I wasn’t familiar with Rome’s transportation system.) Talk about going the “extra mile”.

When I returned from my holiday in Pescara, I had the pleasure of spending another week with Mary and Carlo. Once again, I was bombarded with their many kindnesses, words of advice and extensive knowledge about Rome’s art and historical sites. They are walking encyclopaedias.

In addition to these benefits, the Welrome Hotel is centrally located near Termini Station … the rooms are clean and quiet … equipped with a hairdryer, shower, bidet, air-conditioning/heater, comfortable beds, electric kettle, and a small fridge (which you can fill with goodies from the Supermarket that’s nearby).

In contrast, I encountered a few Italians in the service industry who are “tourist weary”. I found them indifferent, curt and, sometimes, impolite. Not so with Mary and Carlo. I commend them for their enthusiasm, their gracious manners, and their helpful and keen interest in making the visit of their guests special in every way possible.

I highly recommend the Welrome Hotel.

To you, Mary and Carlo, I want to pass along my sincere thanks once again for your many kindnesses and warm hospitality. You’re the GREATEST!
