It’s true!
Every positive word that I read online or in Lonely Planet about the Welrome Hotel is accurate … correct … precise … spot on!
Based on these comments, I booked my accommodation at the Welrome Hotel for my Italian holiday in February 2009. I’m so thankful I did. From my perspective, the Welrome Hotel is a two-star hotel with five-star service!
The hotel owners, Mary and Carlo, helped to make my visit to Rome a memorable experience. They were attentive, caring and helpful. When I had questions about places to eat, historical sites to visit, or whatever, they always had an answer that ideally met my needs. They had answers before I even thought of the questions!
The most unexpected assistance from Mary and Carlo came within the first 12 hours of my arriving in Italy! I got to the Welrome Hotel close to midnight on a Saturday night and only had a few hours sleep before travelling to Pescara, about 150 kilometres east of Rome. Upon my arrival, Carlo provided me with the information I needed to get from Rome to Pescara. I was set. Well, lo and behold, if Mary and Carlo didn’t greet me early Sunday morning to tell me that Carlo would take me to Tiburtina station where I had to catch the train to Pescara (because I was a woman on my own who couldn’t speak Italian and I wasn’t familiar with Rome’s transportation system.) Talk about going the “extra mile”.
When I returned from my holiday in Pescara, I had the pleasure of spending another week with Mary and Carlo. Once again, I was bombarded with their many kindnesses, words of advice and extensive knowledge about Rome’s art and historical sites. They are walking encyclopaedias.
In addition to these benefits, the Welrome Hotel is centrally located near Termini Station … the rooms are clean and quiet … equipped with a hairdryer, shower, bidet, air-conditioning/heater, comfortable beds, electric kettle, and a small fridge (which you can fill with goodies from the Supermarket that’s nearby).
In contrast, I encountered a few Italians in the service industry who are “tourist weary”. I found them indifferent, curt and, sometimes, impolite. Not so with Mary and Carlo. I commend them for their enthusiasm, their gracious manners, and their helpful and keen interest in making the visit of their guests special in every way possible.
I highly recommend the Welrome Hotel.
To you, Mary and Carlo, I want to pass along my sincere thanks once again for your many kindnesses and warm hospitality. You’re the GREATEST!
