Best host, Caring & convenient.
We decide to book Welrome hotel after reading the tripadvisor’s reviews. And we glad to make a right decision.

I want to thank the owners Mary and Carlo, they do everything to make you feel welcome in their hotel and in Rome. Mary will give my 7-year old daughter a chocolate/snack in the morning and introduce us the good breakfast at reasonable price. They also provide us the Rome map for free, and gave us very good advices and tips in how to see the city in every day. So, you can skip some research in visiting Rome if you stay in Welrome. The owners are excellent tourist guide. Here are the reasons I select Welrome and hope everyone can visit there to feel it.
Location: convenient. 8 minutes walk to Termini Station; good connection to Florence. 10 minutes walk to Subway, 8 minutes to bus station. 3 minutes walk to the supermarket.
Excellent services. It is the 5-star services. Super.
Room: with refrigerator and safer. Clean and comfortable.
Price: Resonable.
Welrome is the best host hotel I ever stay, and I would highly recommend it to all kinds of travelers.
We really appreciate Mary and Carlo’s advices and have a great time in staying there. And hope everything go well after the earthquake.

It’s true!

Every positive word that I read online or in Lonely Planet about the Welrome Hotel is accurate … correct … precise … spot on!

Based on these comments, I booked my accommodation at the Welrome Hotel for my Italian holiday in February 2009. I’m so thankful I did. From my perspective, the Welrome Hotel is a two-star hotel with five-star service!

The hotel owners, Mary and Carlo, helped to make my visit to Rome a memorable experience. They were attentive, caring and helpful. When I had questions about places to eat, historical sites to visit, or whatever, they always had an answer that ideally met my needs. They had answers before I even thought of the questions!

The most unexpected assistance from Mary and Carlo came within the first 12 hours of my arriving in Italy! I got to the Welrome Hotel close to midnight on a Saturday night and only had a few hours sleep before travelling to Pescara, about 150 kilometres east of Rome. Upon my arrival, Carlo provided me with the information I needed to get from Rome to Pescara. I was set. Well, lo and behold, if Mary and Carlo didn’t greet me early Sunday morning to tell me that Carlo would take me to Tiburtina station where I had to catch the train to Pescara (because I was a woman on my own who couldn’t speak Italian and I wasn’t familiar with Rome’s transportation system.) Talk about going the “extra mile”.

When I returned from my holiday in Pescara, I had the pleasure of spending another week with Mary and Carlo. Once again, I was bombarded with their many kindnesses, words of advice and extensive knowledge about Rome’s art and historical sites. They are walking encyclopaedias.

In addition to these benefits, the Welrome Hotel is centrally located near Termini Station … the rooms are clean and quiet … equipped with a hairdryer, shower, bidet, air-conditioning/heater, comfortable beds, electric kettle, and a small fridge (which you can fill with goodies from the Supermarket that’s nearby).

In contrast, I encountered a few Italians in the service industry who are “tourist weary”. I found them indifferent, curt and, sometimes, impolite. Not so with Mary and Carlo. I commend them for their enthusiasm, their gracious manners, and their helpful and keen interest in making the visit of their guests special in every way possible.

I highly recommend the Welrome Hotel.

To you, Mary and Carlo, I want to pass along my sincere thanks once again for your many kindnesses and warm hospitality. You’re the GREATEST!

Having just returned from a few days in Rome staying at the Welrome hotel with my mum I can completely endorse all the other reviews claims about this miniature gem of a hotel. In fact in my opinion there is nothing negative to say . Carlo and Mary are the most caring and considerate hotel owners I have ever come across, they love their city and communicate their enthusiasm to their guests in a delightful way, courteous and knowledgeable without being overbearing or intrusive. The weather was bright but cold and we certainly appreciated Mary putting the heating on ready for our return. The room had all the facilities we required, the room safe, kettle and fridge were particularly appreciated. Our days were packed with the recommendations for churches, sculptures and frescoes that Carlo made. The only recommendation he made that we didn't sample was for the best icecream in Rome-too cold! But I'm sure if we are fortunate enough to return to the Welrome we will have chance to try that as well!

Welrome was the first hotel we booked for our Italy trip, because of its excellent reviews on Tripadvisor and Lonely Planet. We had really high expectations, and it really lived up to them.

I really could not think of a more appropriate name for this hotel than Welrome, as the owners Mary and Carlo do everything they possibly can to make you feel welcome in their hotel and in Rome. It felt like we were staying with family as they would wave you goodbye in the morning, and be there to greet you again when you arrived home at night. There is seriously a lifetime's worth of sights to see in Rome, so we really appreciated their recommendations of which sights/museums/churches are not to be missed, as well as their opinions on the few which are probably not worth the time. Without them we probably would have wasted a lot of time trying to figure out buses and walking routes etc, so we were really grateful that they were able to help us with this. They are two of the loveliest and most generous people you will meet in Italy (or anywhere else!). If you have a problem of any sort while you are in Rome, they will do everything they can to make sure it is fixed. We felt so well cared for.

The hotel's location was ideal for us as we arrived by train. The station is close, and it's very easy to navigate to the hotel, even with massive suitcases like we had. Pretty much all the places we visited in Rome (everything except for the Trastevere district and the Vatican) we were able to walk to from the hotel. The hotel's bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms were extremely clean and comfortable. The room features include a safe, TV (italian only), and air conditioning, which was great. In a lot of hotels the air conditioning is centrally operated, but in welrome you can set the temperature that you want for your own room. We were there in winter and were never too cold in our room, and i imagine it would be well appreciated in summer too. Every room has a fridge and we found that we saved a lot of money by stocking up on food at the supermarket nearby. The hotel doesnt serve breakfast, but we went to the bar across the street called Li Rong Cafe, where you can have coffee and a crossaint at a table for 1.60 euro. I'd def recommend that place- it was a great tasting breakfast, and it was the cheapest price we came across on our entire trip.

If you stay at welrome, its really worth going to the places recommended by mary and carlo. We went to a gelateria and a trattoria which they pointed out on the map for us and they were both great value, with amazing food. They were the sort of places we never would have found for ourselves, but we were so glad we went there.

Mary and Carlo make Welrome such a unique hotel, and I would highly recommend it to all kinds of travellers. I think you would struggle to find a better place to stay in Rome!

I meant to write this review ages ago....however, months on I still haven't forgotten the generosity and helpfulness of our hosts Maria and Carlo at Welrome. I stayed at this hotel in May 2008 with my mum. Maria and Carlo were so friendly and helpful to both of us - providing huge amounts of useful information about Rome. They love their city and their passion for it was infectious!

Coming back to the hotel in the evening was like returning home. They would always greet you with a smile on their face. On our last morning when we had to leave early for the train, Maria very kindly bought my mum and I a delicious croissant and lovely Italian coffee for breakfast! That was such a lovely touch and one you are not likely to find in many places.

In sum, it was a clean hotel in a central location with amazing hosts - I would recommend Welrome to everyone staying in Rome!
