Agree with most of the other posters. This is a very nice B&B, in a good location near to the main train station. It is comfortable, the place is clean, and the host is helpful and friendly. There is free Internet as well as coffee, tea and ice. Inside the room is a small safe combined with the fridge (imaginative!).

The area it is located in is a little rough (it's near the main train station so what do you expect!) but I never felt unsafe, and there are several reasonable restaurants nearby, as well as supermarkets and banks.

The price at 100 euros for a double is one of the most expensive places for our trip, but I suppose it is Rome!

Gulliver's B&B is a short 10-12 minute walk from Termini Rail and Metro Station and just 3 minutes from the Cavour Metro stop. Our hostess was very pleasant and helpful and was obviously proud of her B&B.

The B&B overlooked a small garden facing the Via Cavour, a busy street, but the room was very quiet and secure, even with the windows open. The rooms were large, clean and well appointed with a modern ensuite bathroom. Breakfast was wonderful, with yoghurt, coffee, juices and a variety of cakes/pastries.

The B&B offered free internet and local telephone calls (24/7), which was an added convenience and bonus.

The best feature is that it is close to the Metro and Train links, making transport around the city, to the airport, or travel to other cities/regions in Italy very easy.

We would recommend Gulliver's to anyone and would stay there again without hesitation.

  • Liked — Location to transportation sytem
  • Disliked — Termini area lack of ambiance, but we knew that when we booked.

We just came back from a 5 days stay in Rome. The Gullivers place has been the perfect option for price and accomodation. Clean and nicely decorated. Very well located with the Termini Station as well as with buses (bus stop right in front of the hotel).

We have been received by the owners on the arrival day and they were very helpful during all stay in terms of restaurants and places to see. Should you need reccomendation for restaurants please do not hesitate to contact me. Be careful as Rome is very expensive and there are several places very expensive. Though it's a great city just to have some pizzas and paninins on the way, but in the case that you want to have some reccomendation for restaurants ask Sara at the Gullivers or even myself. Will be delighted to give you some good advice as during our stay we really fall into some touristic traps and I would love to tell you even more where not to go.
Enjoy your holiday.

We arrived after a red eye flight, exhausted to the Termini Train Station and were happy to find the location after about a 4 block walk, so we didnt need to pay for a taxi. The detailed map provided by the B&B after we booked our reservation, helped us find the discrete location. We buzzed up to the B&B and were quickly let in. Sara, greeted us at the bottom and placed our bags in the elevator so we didnt have to carry them up 2 flights of stairs.

Being only 95€, we were worried about the quality of the rooms but we were happy to find out that the room was very cute, had a fridge and a safe for us to keep our documents in while we were traveling around. Sara also showed us our bathroom, which was external to our room, but still only ours, and explained the rules for breakfast and how to get in and out of the building. She also gave us a wonderful map and told us how to use public transportation, which was completely manageable, safe and cheap, not to mention the bus lines stopped directly in front of the building. (I would totally recomend the Roma Pass) also, there was free internet right outside the rooms and a book self with several tour books and pleasure reading items. They also provide a phone that can be used for free when calling in Rome, good for making reservation, or that can be used with an international calling card.
The breakfast was impressive after hearing stories that it would be pretty skimpy. There was a buffet with american cereal and milk and juices. Once you sit in the little kitchen someone will bring you coffee or tea plus, yogurt, and breads with jam and butter. We felt we were provided with enough to keep us full until lunch!

I would like to mention that I felt very safe at the location. There was a gate to get into the complex, a key to get into our building, a key to get into the B&B and a key to get into our Room.

We would totally stay at Gullivars Place again if in Rome, we felt it was an excellent value, and not just your typical hotel experience. We interacted with other guests as well as the Italian staff and their adorable puppy Coco, (hes a maltese, so allergy friendly and only there occasionally!)

  • Liked — Location, close to Train, Metro, and Bus
  • Disliked — shower was very very small!

I reserved our room via e-mail correspondence with Simon and re-confirmed a few days before we left. No issues on this front.

We took a taxi to the location and with small difficulty, were able to locate the B&B - there is no sign saying "Gulliver's House" which is a little confusing, but there is a buzzer for it and the street address itself is visible. An absolutely adorable iron gate in front leads into a central courtyard and Gulliver's house is then to the left and the door on your left.

The map they provided was helpful I thought. The buzzer doesn't work so good but a nice gentleman gave it a good hard "poke" for us (and then it worked) while we were trying to figure out how to call Rome from our cellphones!

We were greated warmly by Sara and given help with our bags. No problems checking in and she explained everything about the location and then gave us a personal overview of the map. She was always great about answering our questions and arranged for taxis for us.

The other woman who is often working there (the two ladies basically seem to do everything from hosting to cooking to cleaning) does not speak or understand English much, but she is very friendly!

The decor is very eclectic - not very "matching" if you know what I mean, but reminded me of staying at a friend's house when they had just gotten their first apartment - all nice, older furnishings that are well-cared for (like hand-me-downs) but don't necessarily "go together"! Charming overall though!

The fridge and safe (inside the fridge!) were both useful.

The metro stop is fairly close and accessible by walking a few blocks (we're both under 35) and is just one stop from Termini - no issues getting around and we felt safe at all times (two young women).

The water system is a crack-up or a complete annoyance depending on how you take it - it makes this grinding noise anytime you flush the toilet and periodically does this while you are running water in the sink or shower. We both laughed about it, but I could see it really annoying someone.

The place was very clean but for the really gross shower curtain that had mold on it... I don't know why they don't replace it because otherwise the bathroom was fairly clean and new looking.

The size of the room was suprising - much bigger than I expected (two twin room), with a little sofa and desk area plus a chair by the window. The beds are comfortable, nothing special. It is a noisy location as you look out over a main street but we were too tired from walking all over Rome to care!

The breakfast, as some pointed out, is a bit disappointing, but it was nice to sit and have breakfast in your pajamas (right outside the door to your room) and chit-chat with other travellers, it made a nice start to the day.

Sara has an adorable little dog, Coco. If you don't like dogs it's not like he climbs all over you, but he is often there and if you are really bothered by dogs, I wouldn't stay here.

Overall I recommend this to anyone who is up for a bit of adventure and isn't looking for a "hotel with formal concierge" type of place to stay. If you are interested in feeling like you are staying with a friend in Rome, I highly recommend Gulliver's Place!
