We booked this hotel on our second two nights in Rome and regretted not booking again with the first hotel, 7 Kings Relais. ... The rooms are okay in an expected small European room style, with incredibly dim lighting (even if you turn on every light in the bedroom) and small bathroom layout. The first room they put us in started leaking from the bathroom ceiling, exactly where your head would be if you sat on the toilet. When we told them about it, they said they already knew about the problem, shrugged their shoulders, and handed us extra towels to mop it up. They did transfer us to another room the next day, which had a slightly better bathroom layout (and actual windows!), but with two single beds pushed together. Also, I wonder why they don't have a soap dish in the shower stall, but there's one right next to the bidet. In any case, the room was still quiet, the beds were comfortably firm, and it was what we say "a bed to get back to" after a long day. The breakfast was beyond bizarre and tasteless. The bread was stale, the eggs undercooked, and orange juice tasting like overconcentrated acid. The only thing that was good was the chocolate croissants and other pastries, and we're pretty sure those were purchased from a bakery. Everything is gone by 9:30, so if you hope to eat their disastrous breakfast, don't start late. Also, all 3 concierge clerks were minimally courteous and friendly, but seemingly detached from being helpful. When we asked about a good, homestyle, non-touristy affordable restaurant, the evening concierge directed us to two places that were very much for tourists and for pizzas or high-end fusion menus. Completely off from what we had hoped for. The only positive thing I can honestly say is that they were good enough to move us (even though they shouldn't have given the first room to anyone if they already knew about the problem) and that the proximity to the Stazione Termini was not in a seedy part of town and good enough for us to catch the airport train out with ease.

We had a nice 1-night stay in May at the Impero Hotel. We picked this hotel for it’s proximity to the train station, and the price was right as well.

Staff was very nice, and spoke good English. Room was clean, but a little dark and showed some wear - the comforter had a burned hole in it, and there were some stains on the upholstered walls. There is definitely a lot could be improved. Bathroom needed some minor repairs, not to mention a place holder in a shower for your shampoo and soap. TV had some English speaking news channels. Air-conditioner worked really well, and you are able to set your own temps.

The area was okay – a lot of restaurants, other hotels, and small shops; we felt safe walking around in the evening.

I would recommend this hotel for a very short stay (1-2 nights), for someone on the budget and not too picky.

After reading bad reviews both before and after our trip, I thought I would add to the opinions. Really great location if going through Termini Station, and also good for the subway (easy to navigate). We walked a lot, and took the subway for longer trips. When checking in, I asked for a room on the top floor, and got a beautiful room, with clean new bath, that opened onto rooftop deck- warmer weather may have been a problem but deck was not being used, so had to ourselves. Breakfast was not impressive but was adequate. Avoid nearby restaurant with exterior that looks like a stone silo. Found great restaurants by Trevi fountain.

Booked hotel Impero on a hotel website after reading good reviews on trip advisor. All i can say is that they must have been staying in a different hotel. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels and know what to expect in a middle priced hotel in a major city, so didnt have very high expectations, but even then was severely dissapointed. The room was dark and gloomy and extremely small. The staff were rude and the whole hotel was dirty. When we went to breakfast we could not find a clean table even though only two were occupied, the rest were covered in dirty dishes! As you can imagine we turned around and went elsewhere. On the 2nd night we awoke at 2am in complete darkness there had been a power cut at the hotel and even the emergency lighting didnt work. Thank god there was no emergency!!! This wasnt fixed untill 9am the next morning so as we had an early flight we had to pack in complete darkness. There was no apology or any explanation ( or breakfast) the next morning. All i can say is book Impero at your peril!

Excellent location and easy to find from Station Termini. Nice looking from outside and in lobby. Rooms on the small side and bathroom had sewer smells daily. Maid left the door to our room open when finished cleaning and although nothing missing it wasn't a nice feeling to come back to (girls alone!), Management didn't seem too concerned. Reception and bar staff rude! Breakfast very poor with not much choice - OK if you like sweet cold croissants. Have stayed in better value for money accommodation. However, easy to walk to all main attractions and very quite location considering in heart of city. Blankets very suspect. Didn't look like rooms had been recently updated - water stains on ceiling.
