Tolentino is situated on Via Di San Nicola Da Tolentino, which runs directly off the Piazza Barberini. I flew to Rome Ciampino with Ryan Air and was slightly concerned that because of our arrival time (11.25pm) that we would have trouble checking in/finding the hotel etc etc. See my bit about finding it and the transfers below. Thankfully, the little man that looks after the rooms was happily waiting for us at 1am and showed us our room, took our breakfast order and gave us a bottle of water as we were parched.

The room we had was the cheaper of the 3 rooms, the bathroom was situated opposite the room (but was still private) and it cost us 90EUROS a night (roughly - booked through Laterooms) which bearing in mind the location was VERY cheap. The room was quite narrow and was made up of two single beds as opposed to a double bed (the only gripe of the whole stay). The room had masses of wardrobe/drawer space (for the ladies) as well as a TV (includes MTV and Italian sports channel for the men ;) and an airconditioning unit. Their was no view in particular but that doesnt really interest me in a city thats full of views everywhere else.

We had the same breakfast in our room every day but you could ask for it to be changed if you like, we had cereal, croissants, juice, french toast and hot cocoa every day. Like the two people below, I was a bit concerened with the lack of reviews but when you consider theirs only 3rooms, its hardly surprising theres no reviews.

Now the tricky bit (at least thats what I was thinking b4 i got here) :

To get here:
Ryan Air to Ciampino (arrived 11.25pm) two return flights = £65
Pre-book your coach transfer to the 'Termini' (train station in centre of Rome) using Terravision : --- - two adult return tickets cost £16 - you can buy the tickets with the same company on the plane but they cost more. The coach is easy to find and they run lots of them, remember Ciampino is a small airport. TAXI's will cost you a fortune because the trip is approx 30mins!!!!
From Termini to hotel. If you arrive during the day and you dont have loads of heavy cases then you could walk (prob about 15mins walk) however we arrived at Termini at about 12.45am so we got a taxi which cost about 15Euros including Tip.
The hotel is actually 'number 50' so make sure your taxi driver knows so he can take you straight to the door.
The hotel is on the 2nd floor of a building opposite a resaturant (begins with 'T' but cant remember now - just up road from Blockbuster Video). Ring the buzzer that says Tolentino and the man will buzz you in, open the door and go through the gate immediately on the right as you go in, take the lift or stairs and the hotel is on the 2nd floor.

For the money, this hotel is amazing, you cant stay in this area or any other good area for this cheap. DO NOT STAY NEAR TERMINI (Via Marsala, Via Gio Giolitti etc) as its a dump, all the hotels had bad reviews and when you actually see the places - its like the Bronx!!! If i was to go to Rome again, I would DEFINATELY stay here, theres absolutely no reason why you should spend double the money unless you're a sucker for luxury hotels (like the Exedra).

Theres plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, theres an uber-cheap but really really nice Chinese restaurant on the corner of Via Barberini and Salita di san Nicola Tolentino, as well as hard Rock Cafe and a plethora of Restaurants on Via Veneto.

The Metro station is 100 yards from the hotel front door and tickets can be bought at the machines underground. You can get a good tour bus (if thats your thing, headphones :-) etc) on Piazza Barberini by the tube entrance on Via Veneto, the RED 110 open Top Bus takes you round the whole city (hop on hop off) for 13 EUROS each.

Like the previous reviewer i book this b&b before any reviews were posted on here, but there was no need to worry the b&b is in a good location only 5 mins walk from the trevi, handy for the underground, but if u dont mind walking u can get to most of the sites, the place itself is niceley furnished and run by a great guy (JOEY) who is very helpfull and full of info should u need it, he serves u a nice italian breakfast in your room, the only downside was our room was not ensuite but we didnt mind croosing the hall to it with all the nice things to look at the room overlooks a yard, no veiw but its away from all the mad traffic and noise.

Booking this B&B was a bit of a gamble as we hadn't been able to find any reviews and normally we like to know what other people thought. But the pictures looked good and the price was right so we went for it... and were not disappointed.

The location is excellent - 5 minute walk from Trevi Fountain and all other sights are easily within walking distance (we walked everywhere!). The B&B is off the Piazza Barberini, a nice area with plenty of bars and restaurants close by too so if you have tired feet at the end of a hard day's sightseeing, you don't have to go far for a good dinner.

The actual B&B is on the 2nd floor of an old building. From the outside you wouldn't know it's there - you have to just buzz in. The apartment is full of character and the guy who ran the place was very helpful and friendly.

We had booked the suite because it is the only room with an en-suite bathroom. The other two rooms have their own bathrooms but they are external to the bedroom.

Our room was large and very clean. Breakfast was brought into our room at the agreed time everyday. We've never experienced this before - it felt very spoilt and indulgent. It won't be the same on any future holidays when we have to "go down" to breakfast!

The only slight downside was that there was some building work on the building opposite. We had no view to speak of from our room, but we weren't bothered by that. When the building work is completed, the room will probably look over a typical Italian courtyard - that is what they seemed to be doing. The advantage is that there was no road noise so a bit of drilling during the day (when we were barely there) was preferable to traffic / city noise all night!

A wonderful place to stay in a beautiful and interesting city.
