Stayed two nights at Tolentino and had a great experience. Compared to B&Bs and agriturismos we'd just stayed at in other parts of Italy it wasn't cheap - our double was 150 Euro. But Rome itself isn't cheap, and our great experience justified the pricetag.

The B&B is on the second floor of an old building just off Piazza Barberini. My understanding from earlier reviews is that the rooms were renovated last year; they're modern, clean, well-decorated and have tons of character.

Our room was somewhat small. On the plus side, it had really high ceilings and a fantastic and large bathroom. It was also completely free from street noise - in fact, the only noise at all was from a group of noisy Italians staying in the room next to us one night.

We booked a second room for one of the nights because my parents were joining us. They had a suite for 165 Euro, which had all the good features of our smaller double but was much larger, with a separate sitting room.

I can't say enough about Joey, the B&B's manager. He's friendly, professional, and always available to help. He normally serves breakfast to guests in their rooms between 8 and 10AM, but went out of his way to bring us breakfast at 6:15 one morning because we had to leave early to pick up my parents at the airport. On the topic of breakfast, it has somewhat more variation than the typical Italian cornetto and cappuccino - Joey gives guests the option of choosing juice, cereal and other items.

If and when I return to Rome I'll stay here without hesitation.

Joey, the manager is a great host, ever ready to help as best as he can. We stayed here for 5 nights, and had a small room for the first couple of nights, but were moved to a much larger room after. All rooms are in excellent shape, very clean and well maintained.
The location of the hotel is great, right outside the Barberini metro stop, and a 7 min walk to the Trevi fountain. There is a coin-operated laundromat/internet cafe 5 mins away.
There is a convenience store, in the building next to the Tolentino. The supermarket too is 5 mins away.
Only advice about Rome is to avoid it in July and August, the heat gets to you given all the walking you have to do.

After 6 months renovation, B&B Tolentino is back in business. All rooms now have private baths. Nicely decorated, reasonably priced, good breakfast (served in room - no dining area), convenient location with a knowledgeable and pleasant host, "Joey". Hot water was "spotty" but Joey advised a second tank was being installed to resolve that (the ONLY) problem. The elevator works and the neighborhood is actually QUIET! Would defineately return.

The Tolentino B&B is in a beautifully restored 200 year old mansion turned apartment/office building. With an excellent location, just off Piazza Barberini, next door to the Hotel Barberini and sheik Via Veneto, half a block from the metro and major bus stops. Short walking distance to the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, other major attractions, shopping areas, many restaurants, a coin laundry/drycleaner and romantic streets and alleys to stroll at night. There’s a great little grocery store at street level.

We rented the room with the in-room bathroom, other rooms have private bathrooms but across the hall from the rooms. Our room was very spacious, plenty of closet space, a desk, TV, bathtub with water jets, two windows facing an internal courtyard and a king size bed. I would have appreciated additional pillows but this was only a minor issue, I’m accustomed to sleeping with three pillows at home. There are only 3 rooms in the Tolentino, although all the rooms were occupied it was very quiet and peaceful. Next January the B&B will be remodeled and 2 additional rooms will be added. The breakfast is ok but if you like big breakfasts you may want to walk to a nearby café.

Joey the caretaker is a very nice and helpful person, any questions that you may have he’ll have the answer. He is very knowledgeable about Rome and can help you with transportation options, restaurants & shopping suggestions, etc.

The WIFI reception in our room was weak, the reception may be stronger in the common areas but I didn’t try. I connected to a stronger unprotected WIFI access point that worked very well. However, I don’t recommend this unless you have a good in & out traffic firewall and a VPN connection, otherwise your computer and it’s contents will be at risk.

We highly recommend the Tolentino B&B, we will definitely book it again when we return to Rome.

Family of 4 travelled Europe June/July 07 and spent 3 nights in Rome at the Tolentino Bed and Breakfast. Lovely spacious accommodation (which is unheard of in Europe), fantastic position convenient to many sites and public transport, great restaurants very close, extremely kind and helpful staff who couldn't do enought for us. Coffee fantastic but breakfast a little disappointing. Would certainly return to this accommodation and recomend it to others.
