“so and so”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2014

The building (from famous architect Zaha Hadid) looks better in photos. Not many exhibits worth inside. Nice courtyard. I expected more.

Dear Dimitrios,
we are very sorry you didn't appreciate the museum. Above all, currently there are ten different exhibitions at the MAXXI. Maybe you didn't expect a contemporary art museum but a more traditional experience. We wish you came back again and enjoy your next visit.

“Cool building and Exhibits”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

This was the only modern museum we went to in Rome, and we surely enjoyed it! All of the exhibits were interesting and engaging, and the building was definitely made for a modern museum of art.

“Amazing museum, not just for its architecture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2014

It is an amazing building and the exhibitions are beautifully presented. A bit off the beaten track but worth while going. Highly recommended.

“Art Museum?”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2014 via mobile

This was a major disappointment. Very hard to get to, nothing else around, no real art, and tons and tons of wasted space. Call it an architectural museum with some questionable and disgusting art. Too much work to get there with no return for your effort.

We're really sorry for your disappointment.
The Museum stands in a very calm quarter, away from traffic so that visitors can enjoy a warm relax.
Works in the museum are contemporary ones as the name suggests: XXI century arts. Maybe you expected something else? Let us know please.
We wish you came back soon and change your mind through new exhibits. Get a chance to Art ;)

“Magnificent Architecture”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2014

I would highly recommend a visit to this museum. The area is less touristy than the center of Rome and is really a nice change. The museum having won a Stirling Prize lives up to the award by presenting itself as a magnificently designed building, one that you will never forget. The interior also presents surprises and an excitingly smooth journey through the building. The exhibitions within the museum were of a high quality; incredibly enhanced by the space they are presented.

My only negative point is that you need to buy a ticket to get any further than the entrance area. Like most museums, the building should be free for people to roam, with private exhibitions being charged for.
