If you stay here, don't take their referrals for anything! We had multiple annoying interactions with the staff of this hotel, which added up to a sense of disappointment with our stay. These included:
We asked the manager (owner?) for help arranging a private tour of the Vatican Museums. She made us a reservation, and we were surprised by the low price but she assured us that there would be "maybe one or two other couples" (her English was impeccable, so no chance that she misunderstood). We woke up for a 7 AM tour, only to be picked up by a tour bus carrying about 50 other Americans (we HATE group tours!). The tour wasted a ton of time herding people around, and then rushed through the actual sites. We ended up leaving it behind to walk around the galleries ourselves, thus wasting our fee of 50 euros each.
We asked them where we could find a laundromat. They referred us to a full-service lavanderia where the woman wouldn't tell us a price before doing our laundry (alarm bells, should have walked away), and then afterwards wanted to charge us 70 (!) euros for a smallish load of laundry. We bargained her down to 50, but still...
These experiences made us feel like this hotel was more interested in referring us to their friends/associates (and getting kickbacks?) than in actually trying to help us (another guest I met had the same impression). On our last night the guy at the desk tried to convince us that a restaurant around the corner was great (in a neighborhood full of tourist traps) and his friend there would give us a discount...needless to say, we ran in the other direction.
Also, the room was advertised as having air conditioning. The A/C was high on the wall, and on our first night there was no remote control in the room to operate it. It was unseasonably hot, and opening the windows meant being kept awake by noise from the street. The next morning I asked the manager for A/C. She said they didn't usually provide it until May (it was mid-April), but she would "try." That night we got back after the desk staff was gone (they're there until about 11 PM), and we still had no A/C, so again we slept terribly. The next day, I complained again that we weren't sleeping, and finally we were given A/C the next night.
That second morning since we'd been awake for most of the night, we slept in. The manager knocked on our door at about noon and told us we had to leave in 5 minutes because they needed to clean (after I'd already told her we hadn't slept the night before).
There were other things about our stay that were fine. The room and bathroom were immaculate, attractive, and comfortable (though the room was a bit small). The bed was firm and comfortable (two single beds pushed together, which is common in Italy). They serve a nice continental breakfast which they bring to your room, including great coffee. The staff was actually quite friendly and pleasant, despite the experiences above. However, our overall impression was that the value of this place wasn't worth the price (180 euros per night), especially since the experiences above kept costing us more money and making us feel like we were being fleeced (the only time in Italy we felt that way).
A note on location: this hotel is a five minute walk from Termini Station, but is not in the seedy neighborhood right around Termini. (They offer to pick you up from the airport for 44 Euros, but a train from the airport to Termini costs 11 Euros per person.) It's very close to many sights, which was helpful during the first few days when we were getting oriented, but the neighborhood was a bit touristy for our taste. Rome is very walkable and has great public transportation, and next time we'd stay somewhere like Trastevere, with more authentic restaurants, better hotel values, more atmosphere, etc.
